    Get outta the gene pool!

I know riders have differing opinions on the appropriate amount of safety gear one should wear while riding (more specifically in the suburbs) but I reckon I saw something today that takes the cake.

Picture this: the rider behind me (I was in a cage) wearing shorts, t-shirt & sneakers...no gloves, no jacket...he did have a helmet on though, albeit 1 of those open faced ones...but I guess he prefers those because he was smoking a cigarette while riding! I kid you not!
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

I was following a scooter oneday thru te puke. Guy had a wetsuit on but it was pulled down to his waist. The arms flappin out the back. Jandels on, helmet and he was sitting on his surfboard that was on the scooter! Te puke is 15kms from the beach..most of which is open road.

What a coincidence. Riding home yesterday from an afternoon at the pub in my baggy shorts, Tshirt and jandals, I thought to myself, "Look at all these stupid people."

People smoke. I don't but it doesn't worry me. Free world and all that. Live and let live.

And at least smoking doesn't make people go apewild . Never heard of anyone charged with Driving under the influence of Nicotine. And the cops don't get called out because someone's gone off his nut after smoking a cigarette and is going round smashing people and things up. And not many domestics are caused by smoking.

Although the price of cigarettes in a not too well of household could cause greater stress in households leading to domistics.

What's the difference between a cyclist who wears a helmet and bicycle shorts (and often does 40k+) and a scooter rider ?

    Do we berate cyclists ?
