RG150 for me :)

Hi there,

I am looking at buying an RG150 as my first road bike (I have had a few dirt bikes in my time and riden Motorcross), I am just wondering what things to watch out for with the RG's and what things with 2 strokes to look for. Namely things like what questions to ask the owner, what noises to listen for etc.

I have read the sticky guide, but just wondering if anyone can give me some kinda specifics with this kind of bike.

I have looked at the 4strokes, but for the price, and purpose... the RG cant seem to be a wrong choice... one I get the full license... then get a real bike

Send a PM to McJim - his wife Chickadee has an RG150 so you could ask them what to look out for.... apart from crap tires losing traction pulling into your driveway

An excellent machine for a learner. As you say you have ridden motox , I assume you are familiar with the maintainence issues on two strokes, though the RG150 is nowhere near as demanding as a motox machine.

The powervalve(s) spring(s) and retainer is something you want to keep and eye on . Not something you need to check too often just every once and a while , even on well maintained Rg they can break (happened to mine randomly) .

Other than that there is no real issues over normal two stroke maintenance.

Solid little bike bud , will keep ya happy for the most part .

Yes they are awesome bikes. Its always a good idea after you get the bike to loctite in the screws holding the powervalve spring and retainer in.

Ask if the powervalves have ever been replaced, ask if it has been run on synthetic or mineral oil, have the rings been done or have the power vlaves ever droped into the cylinder.
