Question Can Youtube video be used as evidence?

Does anyone know if you can be charged with a motoring offence based on video clips or photos posted onto sites such as youtube?

It would be very improbable if that were the ONLY evidence. But if , say, a cop has chased you but you got away , and he didn't get your rego - then you post a vid of the action, and he spots something in the vid that enables him to ID you - say you turning into your house, you're toast.

    Best not.

    Short answer, yes.

Example, young 'boi racer' in Christchurch doing drifts in his WRX on public roads (businesses in the background that identified the area) with other traffic around and then crashes it at the end of the vid. Result was he was charged with the evidence being the online vid.

Another example was posted by another member tonight where a guy bragged online about getting away from the police, only once he had posted it he was no longer going to get away with it.

If they can prove it was you and can prove you were breaking the law, yes.
The roundabout powered by a scooter group have been charged, according to the news, based primarily on the youtube tape.
