    Angry AFC motorcycles (Palmerston North)

I have a bit of a conundrum, I dropped my rear shock off at afc motorcycles last tuesday to be rebuilt and they said it would be ready by friday, if I was lucky, thought that would be ok. Now I rang up on friday and they said it had been a busy week and it would be done early next week, I could handle that. I rang today to see if it had been done and i'm told that it would be ready this friday, IF i'm lucky. Now I'm none to happy about this becuase i use my bike as my main form of transportation and they said it would only be a couple of hours for them to do. I don't see how they can't find a couple of hours in thier week to fit me in. I pretty sure the shock hasn't even een started on so I want to take it elsewhere, even if I have to wait a week again. Is this reasonable? or am i being a bit hasty here? also does anyone know of a good place that will rebuild shocks, somewhere around/in the manawatu?

I think that's reasonable, also I'm sure once you explain that you'd like to take it elsewhere because of the delay they'll manage to find the time to squeeze it in

talked to shaun first, he reckoned that they were quoting a good price so should let them at it.

The general Kiwi attitude is if it's being done at a good price, then you cant complain about shocking service.

Except you can't have cheap and quick.

My recommendations is get it well done - from recall that shock is not a standard item - never did find out what it is from, along with the swingarm.
But yeh sounds like either a) they are so awesome that they are flooded with work or b) your not a high priority.

Oh, you can. That famous engineering firm Bodgers and Bashit specialise in cheap and quick. Guaranteed to last to the end of the driveway.

What about the guys in Hawera. I know they are Ohlins, but...you never know, perhaps they can assist?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

most everybody in this loverly country reserves the right to screw you, be they motorbike mechanic, car mechanic , plumber , electrician, doctor , hairdresser or whatever................

If you moan about a crappy job or slow service the answer is inveriably:"What do you expect for this price" !

Please don't forget you DO LIVE in the country that has as a motto: She'll be right, mate !!!
This does not then make for: Great job, great price and in good time. If you desire such services you might consider emigration.

its not bothering me too much, its just a little annoying. I don't think i'll be bothered taking it anywhere else but i am going to have a moan if they don't have it started by friday. i have been told they are pretty good, they do seem to have alot of work on.

I am going out on a limb here you can have both. A good mechanic will/should be fast ,efficient thereby saving you money ...

Jack of all master of none ,,,will take a bit longer
