    My new bike

Thought it's about time I put up some photos of my new bike.

It's a '97 CBR600F3, and I'm loving it. I took it to the Sprints last weekend and managed a 11.58 sec 1/4 mile on the standing and a top speed of 227 on the flying 1/4 (even though the speedo was showing 270).

I've had to start playing with the set-up a little, the guy before me had the rebound damping on the rear set as hard as possible and the compression damping set as soft as possible. I've changed them back to standard and it rides a whole lot better...just needs a few tweaks.
I've had it on the back wheel a couple of times now...most exciting.
And it's got a comfy seat...on a two hour ride my arse didn't hurt at all!!!

    Anyway...here's a photo and a movie.

    congratulations, its a Honda

Well done. So many KBers at the sprints, so few introductions made.
Take it easy at first on those wheelies before you end up wrecking your forks.

    Yeah...I know.

The first one was intentional, I had to see if it could do them...lol

Second one took me by surprise, had the wife on the back and made it way to easy

Nice bike Slingshot (but guess I was always going to say that, huh?), guess you'll be changing your name? Was the fairing scuffed when you bought it? Nice pipe!

Yeah...the fairing was scuffed, when I get rounf to it I'll see about touching it up. There's also a small scuff on the other side as well.

I think I'll keep the name the same, too much hasel otherwise

    Hmmm,

From a Suzuki to a Honda? Nice to see that there is a natural upwards progression in all things....

    Nice bike Slingshot!!!

I'm a self confessed Honda hater but the 600F3 is a sweet litttle machine! Good choice an stay upright.

Must say that I still like Suzukis. Rode a mates GSXR750 the other day and it was rather nice.

Most CBR600 owners feel the same way Slingshot!!

I too enjoy the comfort factor of the CBR. I've been on quite a few 5 hour rides this past winter without any complaints from the old body.

Take it from me, your new ride will only get better - take care of her and she will take care of you!

    Cool bike.
Has the gearing been changed? Maybe a tooth off the front sprocket?
Your top speed might not be that high but I'd expect the acceleration to be better.
Anyhow, have fun and take it easy with the wheelies......

Where did you do the flying quarter event? A had a mate who did one down south last year on a ZX-12. Did 305kph over a flying quarter, about 340 on the clock....

It was in South Wairarapa, there's a bit of a write up in the racing section here .

Not sure about the gearing although I had a look at the results from the last couple of years and there was a CBR600 that did around the same speed.

Doesn't worry me anyway cause the only time I'll ever do that kinda speed is at one of these events.

Just out of interest, being from down south and all, who was the mate and where was the flying quarter?

    Cheers
