Good point, perhaps we could do up a fact sheet to hand to people on the day. Explaining the point, and a couple of misconceptions.

eg. The cheesecutters down the centre of the road on SH1 have had a positive impact on fatalities, however more due to the fact they remove the opportunity to overtake in dumb ass places (which any barrier would do), rather than actual acidental line crossings. Given the fact they flex up to 3 meters when hit, if a car or whatever was coming the other way at that precise time, there still would be a head on.

So is anyone doing picket signs? Or will this just end up looking like "Doods on bikes"?

Much to dangerous to go throwing a U-turn at Stanley street into Lower Domain Drive, besides there is a major Weigh Station at the Intersection of Stanley St, Beach Rd and Parnell Rise. - translate Police watching you as you ride past.

We would get maximum exposure riding up Parnell Rise, there is not too much traffic disruption (to us, or public) but there will be a lot of people around as it is a reasonable shopping/cafe area which we would ride through and be seen.
Only two turn-offs, and 3 sets of lights which just about everybody would get through (without breaking any laws or being cause for concern)

The Khyber Pass option (in my opinion) is to short (for public exposure) not to mention the 3 sets of lights in very close proxcimity to each other. They are not timed to each other either. Risk - cars amongst bikes etc

    my $0.50c (inflation)
Since the original route is simply not going to work has anyone changed it so it does? Cant find anything about an ammended route....

A novel idea would be to make some flags and fly them behind a couple bikes.

Sounds like a bloody good idea...I have emailed Spankme about the route but have had no reply yet. You guys wana give it a try? That route sounds far more appropriate to do what we want to achieve. And as for the lights / police Im sure if a group of people can walk over the harbour bridge we can ride our bike on that route. Maybe someone should raise this with the police?
Can we get a biker cops feeling bout this?

I've gotten in touch with some people and have the names of a few cops who may be in a position to help with traffic and co-ordination etc. Will post when I have something solid. Would be good to have the route nailed down before I talk to them so I'm asking the right questions.
I'm selling my new riding gear!! Only worn a few times get a deal Kiwibikers!!

Think abbout what the cutters do to arms and legs. Its a symbolic slice wound.

I agree.I think the slogan Cheesecutter Barriers is too vague for the average moron.

Killer Barriers is better. - like killer roads

Last I knew, wire barriers weren't racist.

And, I support this on the basis that it is for the greater good of all road users, motorcyclists in particular, but not race or color specific.
