    Do you stop for people?

Well funny story really, ran outta the go go stuff on the way home tonight.

Turns out that a guy sitting beside his bike on the side of the road looking like a lost little boy isn't any cause to stop, now myself when i'm in the cage if i see someone on the side of the road that looks like they are in trouble, i pull over and stop to see if i can help. Now admittedly i has some more gas on its way so it wasn't a big deal but people were just driving past staring like i was naked or something (they wish!). One guy did wave from his cage tho, i'm guessing they are a fellow biker too, going in the opposite direction so not too worried but the amount of people on my side of the road just staring... no-one cares anymore, just rushing to and from wherever.

Do you stop for people who look like they are in trouble or need assistance? Regardless of what type of vehicle they are in?

Yeah now i'm done, venting over.

Depends on how dodgey the person on the side of the road looks, and whether I'm alone or have someone with me.

I stop if I see them in time and can do so safely. If it is a bike I will turn around and go back.
On the way home from the ATNR the other night, there was a Harley broken down on the side of the motorway, I took the next exit, went back and helped him.

i slow for bikes that are stopped on the open road... slow enough to check for a wave that they are ok. havent had to stop yet. in town, i wont slow or stop. only exception would be a bike on its side.

dude i know in the states lives in florida, a few miles from where they have bike week. on his way there, he suffered a double puncture. several hundred BIKES just kept on going. he was on a highway and several miles from help. he ended up pushing.

For any vehicle? No - only, and always for bikes. In the last year I've stopped 4 times, most recently push starting a Suzuki DR for a guy on the southern motorway, probably 6 weeks ago.

I'd have a good look at ya if I can safely on the way past and if you aren't trying to wave me down or look like you're trying to indicate you need assistance then I'll keep on going. If ya already pushing it or got it in bits then yes.

Where suitable, I'll stop, it's Karma really, you can't expect people to stop for you if you don't stop for them.

It's like the wave/nod, without it we may as well just drive cages.

Riding home over the greenhithe bridge, as I went past the Model World place saw all these road cones all over the place... then saw orange scraping marks across the tarmac... then saw a car rolled on its side in the ditch far off the road... I stopped to see if they were ok, and 3 young men walked over to me saying they were ok, and please dont call the cops.. pa! ...tootled off on my merry way and called the station when I got home. Idiots. They were farting around being stupid weaving around road cones and wrote off their car in the ditch.

    I stop for bikers

And usually regret it.Gas is an easy fix ,but honestly, some guys deserve to be on the side of the road. They don't have a tube of glue....sometimes.

It really is a sometimes yes and sometimes no thing ... I always slow if a bike is on the side of the road and look for a sign that they are ok .. if they look reasonable or if the Grub is with me we will often stop .. not always when on my own .. on the other hand if someone has a flat or something like that and I am in a car .. I will pick them up and take them home ... no isssues .. as I don't pillion not really on option on the bike ... but the moral is where we can we help.

I've stopped everytime ive been able when a bikes on the side of the road and not obviously looking like they're having a leak or a ciggy break. Usually I'll slow down and give a thumbs up/down signal and get a wave in return and off i go.

Not stopping must be a south island thing......

Of course I stop to help, see what's the problem. Do as you would be done by. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Blah blah etc etc.

I'd have thought it was a no-brainer. Of course ya stop.
