Still heavy roadworks in this area and still plenty of course metal. Expect delays (last seen 23/04/05 but can no see that it will change in a hurry).

Arrow Watchout. Rain Has Made The Roadworks Worse Up Here

There has not been much in the way of rain up here for a while, but now we have got some it has made the roads very slippery. There has not been enough rain to wash the roads clean. Only enough to rise the oilly bits and turn the dirt to mud. So be carefully out there on your bikes up our way this WEnd, OK

Mangakahia Rd between Fazers Rd and Jack Rd in the twisties (between Titoki & Parakao): The shit all over the road is slippery as now we have had some rain (last sited 6/05/05).

Mangakahia Rd Parakao Straight: New metal being laid for retaring is thick enough to pull the Ute off line, so think about what it will do to your ride bike. It has heaps of lime in it and the rain has made it slushy (last sited 6/05/05).

Most of y'all know this already but on SH1 just as you enter Hamilton from Auckland they are puting in a new roundabout. Been under construction for a while now and is just getting worse as it goes. Lots of loose gravel and pea metal all over the road. Havn't seen this posted here yet so figured what the hell...

Lone Pine Road, for anyone who uses it as a back road to Kaukaupkaupa (sp ?) is still being messed about. In the worst state of all now, new seal with all the loose chippings on it. And Mr Plod is hanging round there now catching naughty people who ignore the 30kph limit.

RAV4 thing shot past me doing about 80 (I was very good and sitting on 40) - couple of bends later and there he was with a Plod car in attendance.

    Bugger.

OK, Mangakahia Rd update for BadL:

Mangakahia Rd between Fazers Rd and Jack Rd in the twisties (between Titoki & Parakao): Still shit all over the road. Digger still widening the road through here (last sited 9/05/05).

Mangakahia Rd Parakao Straight: More lime put down today. Hope they tarseal it tomorrow. Should be sealed by the WE (last sited 9/05/05).

Have not seen ether of these two bits resently:

but still expect there to be at least some unmarked pea-metal on those two sections.

State Highway 30 Te Kuiti - Taupo.
    2 Road work sites:
1/ Near Barryville, 600m long. loose gravel looking at sealing about mid next week.

2/ 5km from te kuiti. be warned this is a cement/ lime stabilising site, you will need to wash all vehicles asap as the cement/ lime will stick to your car like the preverbial blanket. lime and cement have already been mixed into the pavement but will remain active for a little while longer (say until late next week). looking at sealing late next week or early the week after.

yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.
