What? They didn't like you "communicating" with other road users with one finger?

Not if she's standing on the saddle. Though it would be hard then to ahve hands on the bars.

It is technically illegal not to have your feet on the footpegs whilst riding. Which is a bugger for those of us who like to put them on the cylinder head. DAMHIK

But that would still only be the 'height of the saddle' - not the bike - and 'standing on the bike' defacto means foot pegs - 'standing on the saddle' is its own definition.

Has this ever been an issue, or is it just a discussion?

I don't stand up on my pegs too much these days because my back is so shagged but I do do it to get a better view over traffic etc.

Have never thought about not doing it because of police presence because I have never thought it was breaking any road rule or law!

the most obvious reason to stand up on the pegs and stretch out tall is to fart, it is so hard to fart sitting on a bike in leathers! John.

Betty's very comfy to ride standing on the pegs.

I like cruising along the motorway standing up for a few km at a time. You get a better view, and it's fun.

It does tend to get one some rather odd looks from car drivers, though.

When I sat my license in 1976, I did the figure 8's etc standing on the pegs. Cop did not seem to mind at all.

Just a discussion - was surprised by the road bike riders gesticulations and it got me wondering. Would never have asked the question otherwise. Maybe that thats the answer - take no notice of road bike riders gesticulations!

Will stick to the status quo and see how I get on - doesn't seem to be an issue other than the sore arse that is the cause the standing in the first place

    Cheers R

The height of her footpegs from the ground...

The footpegs themselves are only a couple of cm high.

I stand up on my pegs every now and then... usually cuz my boxer shorts have started riding up my arse ... I stand to get more comfortable then plop back onto seat once all is comfy again ... oh... and if my pants start getting low or I feel a breeze... I stand n reach back to hike them up lol...
