Experience......something you get just after you needed it
yeah saw this, (one end of) Roberts Line is about 200m from my house so a bit concerned as to who it might be.....
edit: I'm guessing it probably happened up on the open road section north of Kelvin Grove Rd as there was no evidence of any accident in the suburban section as I came home yesterday

Wasn't me.
Haven't heard anything through our bike club, but sad to hear another rider has lost his life. It may well have been someone we know or have ridden with in the past. Condolences to his family and friends.

There is a photo of the accident scene on the Manawatu Standard's site today - http://www.stuff.co.nz/manawatustand...7172a6003.html. Looked like an old Triumph. Not sure what happened though, but the bike is relatively undamaged. The impact on the 4WD appears to be head-on but the bike looks like it was hit by the front wheel on an angle rather than head-on. Possibly one vehicle was turning out of the intersection in the path of the other.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or are the forks on that bike bent *outwards* - chopper style. Rather than bent back toward the motor as one would expect.
