Hey All!
I had arguably one of the greatest new experience today...suffice to say that i didn't stop grinning all day until I met the stupid cage driver. Today was the day I first had a go at motocross.. Rocked up to my mate motorb's place early this morning for my "motorcycle lessons" lol Spent a couple hours fiddling with the bike watching how to replace air filters and the such and getting some tips and then it was time to hit the track. First off, man motocross gear is different, the boots are way cool. One way grip, huge amounts of armour and ankle protection and the pants and shirt, lol I felt ready to tackle this.
I was given the "tamest" yamaha, the four stroke 250cc. Andrew gave me two pieces of advice, ride in the same direction as everyone else and give it all you got haha. One I had perched myself on top of the beast and fired her up I was all go. Those bikes sound awesome, two fiddy my ass, they sounded like six hundreds on steroids. So clutch out and throttle on and away i went...well instant stall actually. The gear were really tall, you ave to rev them hard to get going. So after giving her a mighty kick we were off. I followed andrew through the tracks, and straight away i was shitting myself, half grimace half maniacal grin. The orque...the torque...THE TORQUE haha. I swear i wasn't going over 30k but it felt fast and hitting the bumps, the rear was going all of the place. I was just holding on for dear life![]()
.
Came up to the first corner, andrew blasted through it, i put my foot down, started going round gave her stick and woke up on the ground. Lesson one, they will spin on ya and can do wicked one eighties if needed, lesson two - try and get your legs of it or you do a painful splits
. After picking myself up and getting the bike going i was off. And for the next hour dropped, skidded and stalled to my hearts delight. Suffice to say riding a road bike was a hellof a lot different. I was going slow but having a great time. I now have 100% respect for off road riders.
After riding or an hour i pulled off the most fun thing i've ever done. My first wheelie. After stalling I got going and followed motorb, he said go for gold and he blasted off, i was following albeit went a bit off course, pinned the throttle open but accidentally dumped the clutch. Pulled an wheelie, sideways, up a bank, with the front at full lock and the engine screaming, after which i went airborn and landed three metres from my bike in the bushes, i made a wil.e.coyote mark in the bushes. Awesome.
Now i love road riding and motocross, both are awesome. need another bike now, a motocross one lol.
Part two- Stupid cage on the motorway didn't check her blind spot and pulled straight into me, so now i am without transportation at all.... She was unisured but that means she'lll have to pay out of pocket. I called the police and they sorted everything. Awaiting to tell the insurance people on tuesday. Sigh. Stupid cagers. Lucky i wasn't on my bike though
.
Anyway ride Safe all
Give motocross a go if you haven't...fucking insane fun! lol
