    Two smokey goodness

    Hey all!

Just a question about my RG150E as it's started to develop a few quirks. The gearbox has become much stickier and requires a good kick up to get it into a gear but downshifting is still the same. Also when i stop, it is impossible to get the gearbox into neutral *and very difficult to shift up*, I have to let the bike sit for two minutes and then it pops in nicely. Also of late she doesn't want to start, even with the engine not flooded and lights off she still just wont kick into life. Are these signs of something going awry or is it just the character of my bike developing itself lol I do tend to rape the little beastie quite hard as in riding it at 10-12 thousand the whole time.

    Cheers

    Drider

Have you checked/changed your transmission oil lately?

Diddly shit compared to the cost of a new gearbox.

How's your clutch adjustment? The clutch could be dragging. Also, if your chain is slack the gearshift will become nasty (although shouldn't matter with getting into neutral so much).

Didn't think about that, it's been so long since I owned my rg. Mine needed adjustment and I had the same problems as you're having now.

New spark plug and adjust the clutch should see you right. And have you told her you love her recently, that's very important you know.

But they do get all irritable and tempramental every so often for no reason whatsoever. 'Tis why we luvs them

I tell my bike i love her all the time lol..yeah i'm actually really liking riding a two stroke aye..it's a proactive approach. I'm not riding tomorrow as i'll pop into a bike store after work and pick up some transmission oil. Lol i'll need to flick to the service manual to figure out how to adjust the clutch. Oh man how do you change spark plugs lol yeah owning a two stroke is a real maintenance learning exercise but i love it.

Getting into netural on my RG when completely stationary was a bitch. So I always put it into neutral when I was slowing down and rolling a bit. That box doesn't like to behave when stationary. I understand some other bikes are like this also

If your chain is to tight it will make it a bitch to get into netural. Also change the gearbox oil...made a hell of a different on my RGV250...as did the gear box oil change.
1990 GSXR 750 - want one, can be crap, can be awesome....pm me.

Change your sparkplug, that should make it easier to kick over hopefully
drain your gearbox oil and put some more in, the best way is to get a mannual and find out how much the gearbox should hold so you just pour that much in rather than fucking around with a sight glass or similar

they may be right about the clutch so give it a go, you can adjust it at both ends of the cable, the easiest probably being doing it on the clutch lever..
you will find a windy thing at the pivot point of the lever...
you want it to be so the lever has a bit of play before it pulls the cable, just by adjusting this you can change when the clutch engages and disengages,
adjust it - take off 1m in 1st gear, adjust it ..repeat until you get it how you want it
careful not to make the cable too tight as if it is when you put it into first gear it will SNAP!!! this is why those couple mm of play in the lever are important, if you have to make the cable tight to get it right, ease it off a little at the other end of the cable !

another trick when you are trying to get into neutral at the lights is to roll back half a metre or so
Confident the aprilia rsv4, IS the one
