    Just kept on riding

Haha just heard the most awesome story from my mum. One of her friends husbands rides a harley, he loves it and basically rides it everywhere, rain or shine. Well one sunday morning he got up early and his missus asked him to go get the paper and some milk. So he jumped on his harley and off he rode into the distance. A couple hours later and he wasn't back, she wasn't worried though as he tends to cruise a lot and get side tracked by taking a detour her and there. After a while though she did get worried but lo and behold she get a phone call from him. The gist of the call is "hey honey, um my bike broke down. can yo come pick me up", she asks where are you " to which he replies, um i'm down south somehwere bout five hours out of auckland, but don't worry i got the paper and the milk". Hahaha bloody brilliant . Anyone on here have stories of just riding off into the distance, would love to try it some day just keep cruising to the bottom of nz and back up again.

I wondered if he'd asked her to bring some fuel too.

    Great story.

Closest I have is when I was living in New Plymouth with my Dad and asked him if I could borrow the car - I needed to get out to the airport.

I didn't mention it would be an overnight trip... to Wellington airport.

My Dad's very cruisy - I'm not sure he was worried at all...

That is why I have a GPS. For when the time comes to stop and think "Um. I wonder where the hell I am ".

'Tis the only way to ride.

And wifes and girlfriends need to learn that "just going down to the corner shop" is code for "Don't expect me back till dinner. If then" .

Of course one never actually intends to go *far*. Just up to the next corner, or the top of the hill. Trouble is when y' get there, there's always *another* corner or *another* hill. No rational person could be expected to just turn back withourt checking out what's just out of sight.

Friend of mine set of for a cruise from his home in Auckland one morning. His wife told him to be back by 4.30 cos they had something to do that evening. Yep fine.

Her phone rings at 4.20. 'Where are you?'

'Um.....Rotorua. Back soon honey! Love you loads!'

Had a friend of a friend who left south London to go for a ride on his bicycle. A few weeks later he called his flatmates from a phone box in Spain. That was in the good old days when you could get temporary paper passports.

A wee while ago, I had a little row with my maternal spawning unit and ended up going for a wee ride.

From Takanini to Gisborne and back again .. All starting at 10ish at night ...

I think I'd end up well and truly in the dog box if I did that, even in this day of mobile phones! Don't fancy being made to sleep out in the shade house, too many scary ugly spiders out there. Brrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm often tempted to 'go for a cruise'. Would probably do it apart from the fact that Mstrs and hXc can't be trusted
Last time I left them on their own Mstrs bought hXc a new drum kit, which didn't fit in the car, so needed a new car as well!!

Hm. Let me guess. And the new car didn't fit in the gargre, so that meant a new gargre?

I just don't understand why they feel the need to ask-How long ya gonna be? A rides a ride ok--15 minutes or two days

    Silly man!
Gargres are for bikes, cars live on the driveway!

(Actually we did get a new gargre too, but that was because the bikes and work stuff didn't fit in the old one)

i have always wanted to just hop on the bike and ride till I cant be bothered riding anymore.
But I am old and responsible. One day I am going to do it and see where I end up.
