Any true Harley experts out there?

A friend of mine just recently bought a HD. Now this friend of mine has no expertise in this brand of motorcycle and only knows about sprotbikes.

A recent trip to cycletreads and a tyre person there seemed to think that said Harley had been in a crash.

Are there any KBers that could check this? My friend would like a second opinion before approaching the person they bought it off is all. Nothing cynical just a second look.

Take it into Tim, (Classic_Z), at Hibiscus Coast Service Centre in David Sidwell Pl. 424-0477. He's a straight guy and should be able to set your mind at rest.

You know I am sure the dealer that sold the bike to my friend would not have been dishonest in any way but when one takes a tyre deflating problem to the shop one does not expect to hear the bike has been crashed.

Will get hold of ClassicZed for a second opinion and am sure all will be well.

Yep! Tell him I recommended him to you even if he prefers Kawaski's over Suzuki's...

If you ask nicely he may even make you a coffee... either that or he'll ask you to make one as he usually forgets to stop long enough to eat and drink! When I call in I automatically put the jug on!

My last trip to cycletreads was a disaster. They munted two bolts one is a specially manufactured item. Wouldn't get them to empty the catcher on my lawnmower now. Don't listen to them if the bike is a problem take it to a motorcycle shop and pay for the advice on whats needed.

Exactly why I am asking the question. The guy at cycletreads sorted my friends problem and was just great but kind of put a doubt in their mind.

They are not going to ring the guy they bought it off unless there truely is a problem. My friend doesnt know enough about HDs to know what to look for.

I don't think you need Harley expert all bikes will carry the same scarrs of a crash incident doesn't matter what brand they are just go to any bike mechanic

What lead the tyre guy to this conclusion?
What does crash mean?
A bit of road rash?
Apart from the obvious differences in handling quality between sprotbike and hardly is there a problem when riding it?

Get you friend to check the right hand mirror, maybe a slight adjustment is needed if the said Harley is pulling to to the right....

The deflated tyre turned out to be the result of a chunk out of the rim. The kind man at Cycletreads also pointed out a few things that "may" have been caused due to crash damage.

As I have only ever ridden sportsbikes I wouldnt have a clue whether the handling is off or not. Please I dont want this to be a witch hunt. I was just after someone to have a "second" look is all.....
