    Commuting time, Manukau to City?

Does anyone commute into the city from Manukau in the morning? thinking of moving out there but need to be at work in Albany by 9am. I know the time from the bridge to work.

    damed that be a hike!
have you thought of moving closer? west north?
i travel from damed near westgate to penrose and it took around 20-25mins on the bike. i would think that in traffic you would be looking at close to 45 from manaku to albany depending on what time you worked

Hell, i live out on Secnic Drive (Titirangi) and work in Grey Lynn.

Takes a half hour with fairly speedy lane splititng probably around 45-50 minutes if I followed in traffic.

    It ain't all that bad.

Don't fancy your chances of getting there in time unless you leave home before sparra's fart mate. Although if you're aiming for Albany then you'll probably be up about that time anyways. The southern heading into town is a total nightmare in the mornings, I avoid it like the plague; therefore recommend you choose another location to dwell if at all possible!
p.s. have done Takapuna to Manurewa in 25 mins before, but about 10.30 at night, and heading south against the lemmings heading in the opposite direction.

I have to do Mt Wellington to CBD some mornings, and have every so often to do Manukau to CBD, in each case for a 9am arrival

Mt Wellington is about 15 - 20 minutes, add another 10 for Manukau. And 15 maybe to Albany, depending where in Albany.

The majority of the time is getting to the motorway and off at the other end. Assume the motorway will be gridlocked, you'll be splitting all the way many mornings. If it's not gridlocked doesn't make much odds in terms of time, just means you'll be riding in a lane instead of splitting, it rarely gets over 60kph in the morning rush. Bridge and northern should be fast, you'll be going against the flow (or, more specifically, the cages will) .

Biggets variable factor is weather it adds 10 minutes if its raining.

I'm a very Nana splitter someone aggressive could trim 10 or 15 minute soff that time I guess.

That'd be dead easy, as you're right by the motorway. Simply jump on the motorway, split non-stop for 20 minutes, then take your offramp in the CBD. Half an hour?

I live in Mangere Bridge, but it's half an hour too, because I have to traverse two motorways and cut through Mt Wellington, which is all 50kph shit.

Manukau to town is a magical beast.

If you leave at 7 you'll get in by 7:30
If you leave at 7:30 you'll get there at 8:30
If you leave at 8 you'll get there at 9.
If you leave at 8:10 you'll get there at 9
If you leave at 8:20 you'll get there at 9
If you leave at 8:30 you'll get there at 9.

I'm sorely tempted to try leaving at 8:45 to see if I still get there at 9.

I ride from Orewa to Manurewa every day. I leave early toavoid traffic but hit it on the way home. 40 minutes in the morning at highway speed. One hour max on the way home if traffic is really bad. A small price to pay to live in a great town. Couldnt do it though if I had to drive my car

I commute from Botany downs to Northcote most mornings via the SE arterial. The majority of the time is spent getting to the onramp but the motorway commute from SE arterial to Northcote is approx 15-20min lane splitting most of the way.

I have on occasion got on at Highbrook. Although easier to get to the onramp the traffic on the motorway is more congested and the lanes are closer together, hence lower splitting speed.

I would would allow 30-45 minutes for conservative splitting to Albany.

    The way you ride?
25mins, tops - INCLUDING putting your gear on and taking it off at the end.

Yep - my times are similar, less 5 - 10 mins, but that's from Pakuranga..

You impress quite easily then - it's only 20km distance to CBD in half an hour ! You've only got to do an average of 40km/h, and even a GN250 can do that !
