I'm thinking that a lot of bikers - who never stopped biking in the first place - just doesn't see the connection. They have already established a network that supports all of their biking needs and are not looking to expand upon that network anymore.

If you don't search you won't find.

I've kinda felt a bit of that vibe as well - but as long as you don't press the topic and start talking bikes it's usually all good

There will be an influx of new members once they have graduated from the local High School nightclass in spellung and punkchewashun.

This question has been asked before of course, prolly a few times. When I first joined there was only 1500 members and there was a lot of discussion about promoting the site....but the concensus then was to let it grow "organically"...ie just let it grow itself. And it has - over 10,000 members. I still believe there is no need to promote it, other than casual word of mouth.

I was lookn at getting some vinyl cut for my hilux rear window. Something like the website masthead with the logo and and white/orange "KiwiBiker" with www.kiwibiker.co.nz under it instead of the "A site for all new zealand motoryclists".

If we get ten or so done it might be cheaper. It still wont be "cheap" tho.

My first thought was, how could anyone riding a Duc have not heard of KB?

When I decided to get back into motorcycles the first thing I did was a Google search and I found KB. This has been one of my great finds on the internet and I doubt I would be back into bikes if it hadn’t been for KB and all the help I got from some of my first posts.

Should we promote KB or just leave it for those who search online?
Alot of long term bikers I know would not know how to turn on a computer, do an internet search or give a rats arse about this site. Its all about personal preferance and lifestle I guess. I'm sure you'll find many the same and if you asked some of the lads I know, they are more likely to tell you to fuck off...

I took up biking again after a several year layoff about nearly 2 years ago.

Most of the guys I used to ride with had given up or never rode their bikes so I really was starting afresh in regards to ride mates etc.

Just did a Google search for NZ bike sites and here we are.....

I've heard a lot of comment on here how this site and us are regarded as 'wankers' etc etc.

But from my point of view I've learnt a lot, had any questions I've had answered good and have fround a great bunch of local bikers here in the Bay.

In fact, I have't met any people in real life from KB that I'd consider a 'wanker.'

    ....nope. Where is it?

It's like anything you have an interest in, if you want to find information, Google the activity and stuff comes up. Check it out and if it appeals, lurk or post, doesn't matter. And take what you want, give back what you want.
I haven't actually met anyone here, 'cos I live 'offshore', but if ever I am around anyone I've corresponded with, I'm sure we'd get along famously and be more than happy to hoist a few beers and commune with a kindred soul.
I'm not a joiner, as such, but do feel like I am part of a brother (and sister) hood that doesn't need promoting or defining.
    Cheers

Well, I certainly hate the bloody things. It's fortunate that other people hate them even more (or are not so willing to jump up and down on them in hobnailed cyberboots ) , or I'd be out of a job

    Yehp. And you don't.

I think keep it how it is. Word of mouth is good. I sometimes find myself wearing my KB shirt around the place, mine just has "kiwibiker" on the back, no name (I like being anonymous) and people sometimes ask me. I tell them. But I don't go around telling every biker I meet about it. Would rather keep it how it is.

If I meet a new m/cyclist, and he/she seems pretty cool n relaxed, i'll mention the site.
I've met dozens of genuine friendly people from this site. Long may that continue.
