    I fell in love today

Went out to look at a few bikes for a mate who's just earned his 6L. He's in Pukekohe and asked me to drop into the shops along Motorcycle Mile (Barry's Point Road).

Looked at a few used CBRs, an NSR, etc etc.

    Then our eyes met.

'08 Triumph Street Triple. I just about fell over in the shop then and there. First time i've seen one in the flesh. Looks amazing.

Now I know what i'm saving all those hard earned dollars for.

Anyone done a comparison between the 675 and the 1050? I thiuk the 1050 would be too big a jump from the 6R.

Might have to put a picture on the Fridge to aid the saving.

I'm still waiting for the local shop to get a demo Street triple in, so I can sample one.

I have ridden the 1050cc though and comparing that to my 675 Daytona, I would have to question why you would bother forking out more dosh ($15k vs $19k?) for a little more power and a lot more weight?
With that extra $4k you could bling out the Street III with the low slung side exhaust and extras. Have a look at some of the owners blinged ones on Triumph675.net

Also the smaller one is far cheaper to run, if saving money is an issue. Something worth considering as we break through $2 a litre. Even more so, the 675 is very frugal on tyres and only requires a 180 size rear - yet another cost saving.

From what I've read about the Street III, and from doing 16,000km now on my own 675, I reckon the 675 naked would have no trouble keeping up with it's big brother and would run rings around it in most places.

Mind you the 08 Speed III in burnt orange is a looker too.

I'd seen the pics before, and thought it was cool, my mates thought it was butt-ugly.

I don't know what it is about it, it just looked SO. DAMNED. GOOD.

With the little Belly Pan and screen, in White. Teh Seks.

Guess it's good to have a goal though huh?

I wasn't sure with the Street Tripple if their were trying to compete with Buell or something. It certainly looks mean and meaty.

The 1050 is a great power unit. I should be picking up my Tiger on Thursday or Friday

They are such a cool bike and the motors sound awesome.
there have been some reliability questions raised here in the uk
after a couple of test mike ate their top ends but they were being
severly abused so i wouldnt worry about it.
my neighbour wanted one in march and was told there is a waiting list till july.

So, sort of squishy, some slapping sounds going on and laughter to be heard?

Yeah, they're cool. I got the chance to take one for a short blat a month or so ago. Felt so nimble and light. Good brakes and a smooth engine. Much better looking than a speed triple too imo (got to ride one of those too - definately more power there and the brakes were amazing but it didn't seem as friendly as the street triple)
