Can't open seat compartment on FXR150, HELP!

    Gday my fellow bikers
Just bought a FXR150 (second hand) and its in pretty good nick. When i went to view it the previous owner tried opening the seat compartment so i could see inside etc etc. But the seat just wouldnt lift, i thought hmmm must needa bit of CRC or something. Took it home tried with some CRC but to no avail. I tried both the original key and copy (both of which work in the ignition fine). Any ideas on how i could get it open? is this a common issue or anything?

Inspecting it it seems like one side is fully clipped in while the other is a bit out as i was able to slide a finger underneath one side comfortably but not on the other. Im unsure as to how its hooked down and dont wanna try pulling upwards too hard as i dont wanna break anything. Any ideas? (yeah this is all pretty vague, sorry) Cheers, El Lanzo.

Have you tried pressing down on the seat while you turn the key? Best place to press would be on seat above the locking mechanism which is just where the pillion part of the seat is (I think - had similar problem first time we tried to get seat off one of these).
    pretentious moi?

What et al said. Push down hard on the seat at the front of the pillion as you turn the key. Mine used to be a real prick to get off

Have a look at ANOTHER bike of the same model. See how it works and go from there.

Most fairing bolts are tucked under seqat on them, same with rear mudguard etc.
