Help - Electrically-minded person needed!

Hi everyone,

I'm in a spot of bother, I have bought a Stebel Nautilus horn for the bike, however I have read the installation instructions and found them hilarious, maily because I don't understand them and laughter is my natural response to things I'm scared of!

Is there anyone here who can help me install my horn this coming Saturday (3rd May), I can offer a sausage sizzle and a dozen beers of your choice for your troubles.

Are there any takers? I'd rather get it done at my house so I can learn properly, it would also be damn expensive to take it to a bike shop and get it installed there.

A horn couldn't be much easier. Simply bolt it on somewhere and move the connections that are on your existing horn to the new one (your existing one won't work, so you can remove it).

Unless you need to fit a relay. In which case just take the existing horn connections to the coil of the relay , and the normally open contacts of the relay switch a feed (fit a fuse!) direct from the battery (you want the horn to work even with the ignition off). Other side of switch goes to one horn connection other horn connection to earth. Done

Youll need about 6 foot of wire, some terminal fittings to suit and a crimping tool or soldering iron and solder. And, if fitting a relay, obviously, a relay and a fuse unit. And some more terminals .And maybe a couple of nuts and bolts to mount it all.

I may be out North on saturday, *if* I am I can stop by, it should only take 15 minutes.

The nautilus needs a relay, it's the big one.

I just installed a nautilus myself a short while ago.....
I thought the instructions where very clear...albeit a bit to small in lettersize.....
One side of instructions is for in unison with existing horn, the other side is Instead of..
Which then is further broken down on both sides for bikes with positive wire from button, and bikes with negative wire from button.
So only 1 of the 4 drawings applies to your bike and setup...

This is if your horn has earth from button as is most common, and you want Nautilus instead off factory horn

Identify correct diagram for u.
run a nice thick fused wire (think was 20A fuse.see amp reading on horn) from you battery to Nautilus/relay(as supplied)
Connect wires from your factory horn to relay ..... as per diagram
Connect ground wire to Nautilus...
Insert fuse last (to avoid sparks while wiring up)
Hold ears and press button.

Go and beep roadusers into submission....


Only problem I had is making enough room for it....I ended up putting compressor seperate from horns and using some hose between the 2....
I got mine at E-bay Australia, delivered for NZ$74...
May I ask where you got yours...?

People actualy take notice now when I push the horn....
You can see em look al surprised and worried trying to figure out where that big truck is hiding
