They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them

Lot of my mates do stuff on Sundays. We're hangin' out. You can't have them. 'Kay.
Seems a long time ago but once we all use to work a five day week got all our shopping done in that time and had aweekend we even had four day breaks at xmas and NY, then big box retail came with seven day trading and small business's had to open longer to compete. Paying staff to cover seven day trading is only piad for by the consuner in the end.
Boys can't ride broken toys.
Two online shops aren't really helpful - you can't talk to someone face to face, you can't be sure you're getting the right part and you've got delivery delays added in there too.
Recent example: My boss has been out and about looking for his first bike, and unfortunately missed out on a good shop because they closed at 1 on a Saturday. That's a potentially lost sale right there as well as any return business because he rarely will be able to make it to their shop. I'm sure there are many more out looking for bikes and accessories in the same situation.
As said, staff in retail are generally prepared to have to work weekends - thats how retail works now.
Times have changed, wickle, most don't have time in the week to do these things that you say could be done in the past.
I used to work weekends as a salesman and I sure hated it but hell did I make a shit load of money, not to mention customers really enjoyed the fact that they could come in on a weekend.

Was disappointed to see that City Honda ( the new Honda franchise in Palmy ) wasn't open on Sunday as at the moment I work in one job from Monday to Wednesday and the other from Thursday to Saturday but appreciate it is their choice. It is just that you don't get the smell of leather and new bikes if you are shopping online ( unless you are playing dress ups with your new bike in the bedroom )![]()
Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill
It will come if you moan enough. Then the shops will be staffed by part time workers on minimum wage as the shops don't bring in enough income to pay full time staff. Then you will moan about the inadequate staff.....
Nope, not at all mate... we're just going to bypass them entirely by buying overseas... and we'll save money doing it. In fact, what do we need bike shops for at all?
Given that they'd have to stiff my local contacts first, I doubt that'll happenBesides which, I'd just use a different overseas trader... Alternatively, I could just pony up the money here and get stiffed anyway, at least they're honest about it I suppose.
Decided to go bike shopping yesterday (thats a sunday, chaps). First stop was Barrys Pt road.. all of them closed, pikers.
Plodded over to Wild West Honda, and low and behold they were open. Friendly bunch too... had a nice 1hr test ride
Then along came the rain.. bah, fecking Auckland.
I work two weekends a month and have the other two weekends off, i dont mind its just part of the job and its nice to have days off during the week to. But if someone offered me a part time job at a bike shop on a sunday id take it.
