Okay the tl1000s has gone and in the market for a new bike. I am thinking of a z1000 has anyone got one or info on what they are like to ride. Do they have any faults that anyone knows of. Or a suggestion of an alternative cheers

the only fault I can see with them is that they are fucking pig ugly go for a FZ1

I don't like the forks they get tied in knots because the spring rates don't appear to match the rear, the rear spring is too hard and there's no rebound damping to speak of so it clatters from bump to bump if you are giving it some welly.

The engine is revvy rather than fat. Or even phat. The stock pipes steal a good 10HP. New end cans give it mid range and top end which should give an idea of how restrictive the rayguns are.

It looks much nicer than an FZ1 though. The FZ1 is a recliner with an R1 engine in it. After a TL, and especially your TL, you will be spending money on suspension in short order.

I was looking at the Z1000 recently and did a heap of research. The new 08 has had the engine/injection sorted and every review Ive read says it has fantastic tourqe spread etc..and performs like a toned down XZ10R. The suspension complaint is apparantly a vaild one but theres a vid on you tube and heaps of stuff online explaining how to set it up proper with standard kit-problem fixed,or a quick trip to Robert Taylor for some revalved forks and Ohleins rear.. Still saving money on the Triple and she'll handle like a dream! As for the 10kg exhaust... Well we both know that'l last 5min on there aye...

I reckon there nicer looking than the speed triples, better seating position and comfort and a hell of a lot cheaper. Check out Motorcycleusa website for some test ride vids...

I haven't noticed anything wrong with the handling of mine. I did get it secondhand so maybe someone else played with it. Haven't needed to rev it either. It seems as happy in the 4-6k range as in the 8-10k.

I was happy with my ZRX1100 before it too, only the Z1000 handles so much sweeter.

I'm so happy with it I'd keep it except I need a KLR650 to go riding with the wife.

Z1000?? It just looks like a bike in transformers and it is about to tranform into a robot any minute... been on a ride today with a friend with a zed and am pretty impress with the power and speed it can go.

Alternatively I guess you would be looking at 955/1050 Speed Triple or possibly Aprillia Tuono Monster S4.
