Well.. I thought I had decided on my next bike. Until.. I was in the Kawasaki dealer today and threw my leg over the new Z1000.. It was nice. Equipment looked a little cheap tho (switches etc).
Anyone got any feedback on them?

I quite like them myself, one of the guys at work was looking at buying one but was a little put off by the number of second hand ones out there that didn't seem to be selling. If resale is an issue for you then tread carefully, otherwise I haven't heard anything bad about them mechanically wise.
Just in view of the above I would work hard on getting the best possible deal at time of purchase.

Yeah I think the first generation of z1000 (bright orange) put a few people off. I quite like the style of the new ones. I was looking at a new VFR but they are starting to look a bit dated and tired....
This guy seems to like his Z

.... Holy crap.... Thanks for that clip. Is that what people mean when they say "ride it like you stole it"...?![]()
Crazefox had a orange one for sale at a silly low price recently - not sure if it sold.
Crazefox and I both have Z1000s for sale. His is Orange and mines Green. I think his cheaper.
i looked into one of these, the weight put me off, otherwise they seemed like a good bike
Had a short test ride one a 08 Z1000 when I was shoping for a new bike a few months ago.
Pros - Handeled well, shit loads of get up and go, good riding position.
Cons - Ugly pipes, aragont salesmen that didnt seem to want me to spend my money with them (well that was me anyway).
As I say great bike.
I best not let the Missus read that bit. She's quite fond of her orange Z. Personally I prefer mine in Black. There was nothing wrong with the earlier Z. I think as with most bikes and probably with some nakeds they either ring your bells or they don't. The twin pipe look wasn't everyone's cup of tea. We dumped the original pipes for a set of Muzzy slip ons. Much better.
I believe Kawasaki have fixed a couple of the Z's weak points by upgrading the brakes and suspension and improved the mid range a bit so it's not so revvy ( is that actually a word?). I'm not completely sold on the looks but by all accounts it's a good improvement ridewise.
I've had mine for a few years now and am struggling to find anything that gives me as big a smile to replace it with. Take one for a ride. You might be surprised.
Umm..ok, I must be losing the plot! Understandable really when I look at the level on the vino bottle!
I was interested to hear from someone who was selling one as to their reasons, as there does seem to be a lot of these for sale on the used market, especially compared to the amount sold new. Just wondering if there are issues that someone like Mountlocal should be aware of.
