    Thanks Charlie.
...actually, I don't care whether anyone believes me - I know what was said etc, and that's all that matters.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I'm not interested in dragging anybody down.

What really surprises me though is the number of people who:
    (a) think that I'm a tosser/dick/weasel/weak/timewaster/idiot/dumbass/gimp/spastic"....." (insert here)
    (b) think that it is right to pass comment in an aggressive manner (as above - all the above have appeared somewhere on the post or in my rep stats)
    (c) do the above without knowing any facts over and above my original post around my dealings with either the trademe seller or any other bike vendors
    (d) spout crap about human decency/doing the right thing/ and then do any or all of the above

Looks like it's easier to throw stones on here than make an informed decision. Somehow I don't think that there are many out there that are interested in the end result...

Once the reserve has been met you have accepted "an offer".

Plenty of sellers do the dirty by pulling the auction before it finishes - even if the reserve is met.

So what are you saying there Katman?
Are you suggesting it is ok to back out as a buyer because some sellers do that too?

I'm suggesting it's hardly a fucking hanging offence.

So when you give your word or make a commitment does it mean anything to you?

A while ago I listed a brand new helmet as a $1 reserve auction. I got $5 for it and I went through with the deal.

What the fuck does that tell you?

You were desperate to move your shit gear? Why else would you put it up for $1.00 reserve. It was probably fair price, after all value is only what someone is prepared to pay so it sounds like a reasonable deal all round.

If as you seem to suggest you really do have any morals, how can you condone then buyers or sellers withdrawing from an agreed deal (i.e. breaking thier word)? The condoning of such contributes to societies general moral decay. Aren't you in effect condoning failure to accept responsibility for ones own actions?

    ...not kicking and screaming tho.
The OP backed out of an almost done-deal with me, had a credible 'reason'...oh well, as I said, that's life.
BUT then he posts on here basically asking how to back out of another 'deal' with someone else. Could I have sat by and said nothing? Yes, of course. But should I have...that's another matter, and I thought not. If he'd not started this thread, I would have gone on thinking that he seemed like a nice guy, friendly, appreciative of advice, who'd decided to go for what he considered a better deal. BTW his 'better deal' was not the Spada in Auckland either...
Are we seeing a pattern here? I certainly did.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
