    Some People!!

Who was the squibby I saw stuck on the Auckland Harbour Bridge on Saturday afternoon?
Despite all the warnings, some bright spark decided that their bike could certainly cross the bridge in all that wind.
    WRONG!
When I drove past in the cage, there he/she was, half way down the north side of the bridge, stopped in the gap between the clip-ons and the original lanes, fighting to keep the bike upright in the wind while stationary, let alone while moving. I wonder how long they spent there waiting for the wind to drop........?
Perhaps the warnings DO mean something after all.......at least they were still in one piece and might think twice next time there is a wind warning for the bridge.......

Apparently not everybody Up Auckland way speaks/or understands English......
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

Harbour bridge wasn't that bad on Saturday - I made it across on Daisy. Only problem was the dropkick cagers who wanted to go <50km/h.

Need to keep the speed up - if you stop, you're pretty much screwed. Guess they learnt that the hard way.

Didn't really have time to look - we were in heavy traffic and it really was blowing like hell at the time - even the Subaru wagon was buffeting around a bit and we were two lanes over from the biker. Can say that the bike was black, didn't look very big either but no more details....actually felt sorry for the dude - looked cold and miserable out there.....

Yep, keep the speed up and it was no big deal. Been a lot worse.

Bit harsh , got to be a first time for everybody, and if we listened to all the warnings from TPTB we'd never go anywhere. Hope he figured it out and got off OK. And , after all , he may have had no choice. Gotta get to work, get home, all that sort of stuff. Some folk, bike's tehir transport, not just a toy for sunny summer afternoons.

    Just remember, gauntlets the secret.

Which is why it is so maddening when some fool in a cage slows to 35kph. And WHY oh WHY does almost everyone slow down just as they get to the top ?

Could be the one - was about 3.30 - 3.45pm as best I remember. Like I said, I was two lanes away and in a solid line of traffic, so only got a glimpse....

Point taken - he may well not have had a choice......if it had been me, I might have gone the loooooong way round though - after all, the best way from point to point on a bike is the longest, twistiest way.....

Same could be said of the dead fishermen and dead kayaker in the weekend - did they heed weather warnings?

Not everyone has a choice. I dont have a car or a car licence so if I need to go somewhere in a hurry then I have to ride, regardless of the weather!
