Speeding Tickets - Calling scumdog etc

    Hi All,

I was coming back from palmy today, and was getting harassed by some silly driver so I did a quick squirt to get passed (as you do) , and bugger it, a cop got me on laser doing 137ks , Now when he gave me the ticket he said don't look at it now, have a peak when you get home, so I thought great maybe he reduced the speed etc so I get less demerits? BUT when I got home and had a look at the ticket, where you have alleged offense, it had exceeding 100ks and then they are meant to put the fine in opposite this ,but he did not put any fine at all , sooo my question is, since the ticket is incomplete with no fine to pay does this mean the ticket is void, since it is the original I would assume that come 28 days later (or when I send a letter in) there will be no fine to pay therefore no demerit points as how can you enforce payment of a ticket if there is nothing to pay?....Was the copper being a good guy? or did he fuck up??

Any input (apart from the usual slow down rubbish) is much appreciated

Sounds like you just got lucky. Last time I got a ticket with no fee in it it was wiped.

By the way he said not to look at it until you got home it sounds to me like he may have done it on purpose, positive reinforcement and all.

Cunning copper , maybe? He's issued the ticket , so it counts for quota. But it's (maybe ?) non enforceable.

His work is done - I'm presuming you rode home on the limit - ie slowed down and in future will nodoubt slow a bit. This I consider good police work if you were not being a dork and endangering others.

A whole different thing if you were doing 87 in a 50 zone eh!

Shit just reading this thread has made me think about my own riding and thinking I'll knock the speed down.

Sounds like the worst that could happen is you get convicted of the offence, receive demerit points, but no fine. However that doesn't make sense unless you plead guilty when writing in - and you shouldn't do that. Sounds like a defective ticket - big ups to the cop.
