Yep, I had an ex-racing pepsi replica RGV250 as my first ever road bike, didn't realise what a weapon it was when I bought it for $2g. It used 10l/100km, or the same as my 2.2litre Honda Prelude car, and similar to a 1000cc 4stroke, maybe slightly more. Plus it was a bitch to keep it running.

CBR250RR is slightly slower, but reliable, easier to ride, more comfortable and gets 5l/100km and a good rider on a cbr will beat an average rider on an RGV easily on the track. Then again two equally good riders the RGV will win easily.

I reckon an RGV250 is marginally better than a VFR400 on the track... marginally. VFR will also use only about 5l/100km, and is also reliable, and also beautiful and sounds great. The 2 strokes sound like lawnmowers.

I totally agree VTEC, my RG125 whips all my mates 250 4strokes but i've been riding for longer and i'm far better.
I had NSR rims on my CBR which where wider than the std ones, 160 rear tyre, 120 front. None of my other 250 (2 or 4stroke) have handeled quite as well but my rgv will do 50kph more top speed. RGV's are weapons alright, I have no problem blowing off VFR400's. I can ditch most Harly Davidsons provided there aint any big straight's for them to get away.
The 1,000cc jappers thou', I cant even touch. Now they are fast.
My brother has a 2ltr turbo subaru. It cost him as much as it cost me to go on a trip togeather to a mates an hour away. We traveled togeather at the same speed'ish and went the same way. 2strokes cost more to run than 4strokes

Sorry to quibble, but that's not quite true. I mean, I'm sure the extra fuel that goes through a 2-stroke does cool the cylinders, but the fundamental reason 2-strokes use extra fuel is that quite a lot (20-30%) of the fuel that comes in through the inlet ports goes straight out the exhaust ports without being burned. This is why 2-strokes are heavy on fuel and this is why their hydrocarbon emissions are very high. It could be avoided with direct fuel injection, but, for various reasons, there are no direct-injection 2-stroke motorcycle engines currently in production.

The RG150 isn't that bad on fuel at all.

10$ gives me 100km if i push it, so thats 20km/l at these prices

Well if I push it, any of my bikes will give me 100 km for $0. But I'll be pretty buggered after pushing it for 100km

    My RZ250LC has a 15l tank, so $30, and I get a fairly constant 275km per tank.

I was originally buying a 4 stroke 250 for the economy of commuting on it, but one ride on the 2T had me hooked!
Missus: What the f*&k is that???!!!! Where the f*&k do you think that's going??
Me: It's a [insert old broken vehicle here] can't you tell?
Missus: Oh for f*&k's sake... [slams door]
Me: Phew, lucky she didn't see what's on the trailer!

    NOTE:

For every $1 of fuel I use $1 of 2stroke oil.

Petrol is just fun tax... 2 strokes are more fun, therefore you gotta pay more tax! In comparison, 4 strokes are heavy and dull, not cool at all

my aprilia if ridden at the speed limit can get 250-300km from a tank, I normally get about 150km before I fuel up,
at a taupo track day I got 110km before I ran dry
Ive also burnt a whole tank in 90km but that was 6th gear throttle pinned from auckland to whangarei early in the morning
the best oil to use is castrol tts and is about 25-28 bucks a litre
    4 stroke = economy 2 stroke = fun thrashing
Confident the aprilia rsv4, IS the one

Let's see.. I started riding my X7 on Friday, just around Wellington, 102.8km the meter reckons, and I've already gone through about 2 and a half tanks of gas. No idea how much that is unfortunately..

My old 2 strokes, a Suzuki VJ22 and an Aprillia RS250 guzzled gas like it was beer! 150 - 200km MAX on a tank and then there is the premuim grade oil at over $20/L!

They are not cheap to run, like a rotary, and a 2 stroke owner really doesn't give a damn anyway. All he or she cares about is keeping the tacho near the red and the clutch covered for when and not if...
