Pulled up outside the tearooms in FOXTON on his 87 beamer-got talking to him and he said was his 70 ieth birthday--and his beamer had never had it,s head off at 227,000kms-and was chuffed at that--new drive shaft and rear suspension and i forget how many clutches--got to thinking myself about these beamers that mileage doesn,t mean that much under 100,000 kms.
I think there older riders around NZ --used to have one in levin -parked outside the library on his green pom bike--but aint seen him for quite some time.

I am sure that there is an old bloke still racing motor bikes with CAMS. I think he was pushing 80 the last time I saw him race. I race historic cars and we share a race meeting with CAMS once a year. We have a race meeting with them this weekend. I'll keep an eye out for him.
I hope I'm still riding at 70. I don't know whats better - riding at 70 or a BMW with 227,000km but put them both together and thats really impresive.

Really, nowadays no reason why a rider shouldn't keep on going until the end. Or at any rate, as long as in a car. Electric starters have removed the sex and age restrictions from biking.

I got my Vespa from an old boy in Rangiora, he wasn't riding it because he was spending too much time on his Bonni!

Was riding on the weekend with an 82 year old, riding a newish GSX650F, wasnt any slug on the road either, had to give him hand to get off the bike in a couple of places we stoped due to uneven ground but that was about it.

Still does a bit of coaching of trials riders too I think, I'll ask him next time I see him.
Father in law's 74 and still riding, rebuilt himself gsx500 from the ground up to ride, which he does bloody well, kept right up my clanger all the way into the cobb reservoir on it(windy gravel), and now he's building a kawasaki ? 250 so he can do gravel properly

I will be 76 come December, I have been riding bikes since 1952 ahout 54 years. I learnt to ride during the war, on a 1936 Harley.

My first bike was a 1950 AJS it was one of the first bikes with rear springing. I have had ten bikes since then and last year purchased my 12th a Suzuki Burgman 400cc maxi scooter, which I have had up to 150KMPH. I am expecting to get a speeding ticket soon.

I ride almost daily, mostly commuting, but went from Hamilton to Auckland to a meeting yesterday.

My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversiry on Saturday, she still has her motorcycle licence but finds the Burgman too heavy for her.

I was, and may be still, the oldest member of this and the Burgman USA forums

I suspect there are many more riders out there in their 70's and 80's who have not got computers.

This cool dude came for a ride with me last week.

He has just bought himself a KLX300 cos they are going cheap and he reckons that if he doesnt do it now, he never will!

. Good rider, picks the right line every time but tires easily.

Maybe 90 mile beach or some other could be my senior stomping ground when all else fails--no laws about OFF road riding is there.
