I'd slowed quite a bit and the bloody thing flew over head. This got me to wondering what the hell it would be like to get a bird strike on a bike. A sparrow or starling, just a bit of a shake up I assume, but a friggin' swan !!! Duck Soup? Anyone had the pleasure ?
I watched as a seagull flew into the chest of one of my mates when we were out for a ride. Luckily he was slowing down at the time, but was going in excess of 70kph.
He managed to emergency stop his bike and then he colapsed on the side of the road, fighting for breath. One hell of a bruise on his chest but no other damage. He continued on his way after a short break.
I would hate to think of the damage that could have been done to him if he was going any faster.
BTW the seagull died instantly. Broke its neck.
