Question Do you need a 250 for full test?

Do you need to be on a 250cc (or smaller) bike while sitting your full licence test?

I have been told that during a full licence test (and only for the test, not the ride there) you can use a bigger bike.
just like you can sit a full car licence test in a manual even if your restricted says you can only drive an auto.

I would check the source of your information very carefully mate. Following it could mean you cant sit it really.

Off to check the rest of your posts now to see how good you are at trolling, this is about a 2/10.

Did you not just ask this,

Yes you have to have a 250, unless you have exemption.

I know on a learners licence you can ride up to a 250cc, but not sure about the full licence test. This link might help http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/licensing/mo...ycle-full.html

No. You do not. You may take the test on any motorcycle which you may lawfully ride. Verb. sap

I have been wrong before, but doesn't that mean a maximum of 250cc unless one of these applies:

    a) you have an exemption to ride a bigger capacity bike on a learner / restricted licence,

    b) "They" actually change the law to bring in the power / weight rules (use the search function, there is plenty listed about it),

    c) you have a full licence already (in which case I can't think why you'd be wanting to do the test).

    Sapientissime, te.

EDIT: Actually, I think there may be one other case; someone converting an overseas licence, in some (only)cases.

My husband sat his full licence on his 650 Burgman (with his exemption in his pocket which also entitled him to use my 650 bandit if he had wanted). Funnily enough after all the admiration his scoot got, the testing officer forgot to ask to see the exemption until hubby brought it up at the end of the test!

Well... try turning up to the test on a 'bigger than 250' bike and see if they will let you use it. If they dont its only a waste of $130 give or take.

    No worries

Plenty of info on this topic if you do a search. But basically you need to "prove" why you need the exemption (and whether it's for a larger cc rating, riding after 10pm, etc.) If it's for larger than 250cc bike you need to show why you need it - my husband got his listing safety issues of not being able to use the mirrors on my wee ginny due to the width of his shoulders plus his 100kg weight. Proper paper work to do and they only grant it for a specific rego (you have to provide the registration of the bike you want it for) and a finite time frame. To explain that point, Balu applied for his while still on his 6L. After he sat his 6R he had to reapply as it expired on the end date of his L period. Because of his age he was entitled to sit his 6F after a minimum of 3 months as long as he did a Defensive Driver course. He was happy to wait the 6 months but they wouldn't grant it for that length of time. In the end he did the course (complete waste of time as far as he was concerned, but hey, it meant that the exemption fulfilled it's purpose).
Flick him a pm if you want to ask him anything more about his experience with exemptions.
