    Shit happens

Democritus once wrote, "The truth of nature, of life, of fact, and fantasy, and hope, and reason, lies deep in the mines and caves of life. The stability of what is seen and felt beneath our feet is an illusion predicated by trust and hope while ignoring reality.

Reality is 'this' moment. Not the one before or the one behind, but only now. And 'now' cannot be measured in time because it is a part of time. A million nows in a second of time cannot be measured. They cannot be dressed in any convenient garb. They exist only as now.

And what we may wish would be the case, what we may hope, plan or desire to be the case, the case is only as it is now.

Over some things we have control. Over most e have none."

The biker looked up and there was the truck, where it wasn't 'supposed' to be, but was. The trucker looked down and saw the same.

The biker wasn't where he/she was supposed to be because he/she assumed to be elsewhere at some time later. Nor was the trucker.

The truck and the biker met and 'now' took the high road.

Of course, the biker, were he/she capable after the fact, could have enjoyed the sublime texture of justified outrage. 'It was his fault'

And so it was. But did establishing fault, after the fact have any value?

But in a simple blip of time the biker became the dead while the trucker became the undead; burdened for life with caustic guilt.

Did the trucker or the biker awake that day wondering if this would be their last? No.

Shit happens. Only 'now' is important.
    Only 'Now' exists in reality.

Who says it was the truck driver's fault?

(Oh, that's right - the motorcyclist).

    No. The truck driver.

On a bike "should" ;"ought"; "must" ; "right" have no meaning. There is only "is".

    Yes, shit happens.

Doesn't mean we should all just sit back and say "what the fuck, nothing I could do about it".

'Now' is but a continuity of time. It is both the warp and the weft that is constantly expanding in two opposing and equal directions.

Earlier today I tucked in behind a stock-truck to escape the wind buffering that was kicking my arse, Only to be covered in a fine spray of pure shit as the effluent tank emptied onto the road just in front of me.

    Shit happens.

It made me laugh, it made me smelly, and it made seeing through the visor a bit of a mission.

Which reminds me, I really should dump these clothes and have a bit of a wash.

    Yess....
Can't say I've experienced that, but I have ridden in a hailstorm (till I decided it was better to stop, because my (gloveless) paws were getting sore), and I have also ridden just after dusk in the country, annihilating scores of fat juicy moths and squishy flying insects with my face.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
