Apehangers

I was pootling around the lake at the weekend and espied a couple of blokes with apehangers (they had bikes as well), one of them I'm sure, if he'd got a good grip on them, would have had his arse off the seat. So, my question is: does all the blood run down from the hands and do they get bloody cold, and are there any other problems? No criticism implied, I'm just wondering

Bloody great for drying out your leathers while riding once you get a soaking.

Good for nothing actually: they screw your handling, offer huge wind resistance which means sore arms, shoulders and gut trying to "hang in there" and yep, the blood does drain away from your hands so when you get off the bike you can drag your knuckles on the ground and not feel the skin being ripped off them

Done a few thousand miles with a large set of apes.

They flex, They flex a lot, But that can be ignored, Can make it feel a bit hairy when you hit a corner too hot or take evasive action. But hitting a corner too hot is meant to feel hairy.

I found them very comfortable, especially on long rides, If anything they eased my back pain. No negative effect on handling when bike is ridden they way they are designed, Probably hamper your speed through the Parapara but that's not the point or the type of bike. I always kept up with the lads with no worries.

Can be hard work in the wind, Nothing gritting your teeth can't fix.Neck would take a hammering, I remember getting my head stuck at one point when I turned away from the wind....and funny enough the road.Dodgy.

Though it is on my Harley (no apes) so its not setting any world records, and as pointed out last time I posted it, There s a fair bit of scenic riding before I get to any hills.And the music is to my taste.

If you can handle all that it might be worth watching.

They was popular on Daytonas and Bonnies, which was the sprotsbikes of the day. I rid a few, they was Ok, took a bit of getting used to but OK. Ish. Sort a. If y' like that sort of thing. Me, I'll take a set of Velo bars every time. But each to his own, one man's meat etc
