So you choose to piss your panties simply because someone chose to offer some alternative advice?

Listen sunshine, don't want to knock the wind out of yer sails but Dad ain't exactly an unbiased judge is he?
And how long have you been riding on the roads??

Get some real experience in, bide yer time and just get yer 'R' the same way most do when starting riding....just focus on not binning and on staying alive would be good!

BTW: If I was suddenly told I was only allowed to ride a 250 I wouldn't give a fat rats arse. Honest.

Hahahaha u got a point there about my dad.

been on the road every day since i got my learners.

And im not sayin i want a bigger bike just so i can go as fast as possible.

like i have said i have done most of that phase in other vehicles and learnt some damn good lessons in the process.

it would just be nice to have something with a little more power.

Ah yes, I know what you mean. That's the problem with growing old, when you get to your age you've done most all of it, and don't have anything much left to learn.

I expect I'll get to that point myself in a few more years

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes

I keep telling my son this one (and I may have mentioned it here before):

When I was 16 years old, I couldn't believe how ignorant my Father was.
Now that I'm 21, I can't believe how much he's learned in the last five years...
