    First ticket today...

hey all just thought I would spin a yarn about my first ticket on my zxr..

    Its all started when...

Cruising down state highway one on the way to work (work in manurewa live in tuakau) keeping with the traffic doing about 110..

So i come on the the ramarama straight and notice "champagne" coloured car behind me getting pretty close.. then i notice the red blues.. I indicate and pull over and proceed to take off my helmet and gloves and get my license ready.

" Do you know why I pulled you over?"
"Um.. No sir I'm not sure why?"
"What speed can you do on your current license?"
    "Um 70 sir?"
"Exactly.. You make it pretty obvious with your "L" plate there"
    "um ok....?"
"I got you at 112, whats your reason for speeding?"
" I was going with the flow of traffic sir"
"They can go 100 but you CANNOT!!"
    "..."
"Did you know your rego is expired?"
"O is it? It must have just ran out"
"it ran out on the 16th" (the 22nd today)

After asking more questions, where I live/work etc. Goes back into his under cover car and made me wait for an eternity. I stand there sheepishly waving at other bikers as they go on their merry way.

Officer comes out of his car...

"here is you list of offences
    1. breech of learners licence
    2. Not having a registered bike
    3. Failing to stop (wtf??)"
    "um... ok sorry?"
"Im going to do you for the rego and the breech of license, your lucky I'm not going to do your for speeding or I would have taken your license"
    "...."
"your also lucky that im not going to fine your for the failing to stop"
hands over ticket and decides to give me some advice

"when you were riding you were "weaving" all over the place on the right hand side of the lane"
"its windy sir hard to keep the bike in a straight line"
"when your riding you need to be in the centre of the lane or as far left as your can"
now im thinking what the shit? that's not right but nodded head.
" Im just trying to stop you guys getting knocked off bikes, your speed limit is 70 not 100 its there for a reason"
    walks back to his car.

Look at the ticket in my hand.
Breaching license by 42 kph $400
    Not having licensed vehicle $200

    Demerit points 50

I put the ticket in my bag and started to suit up. jump on my bike and headed off. 70 k all the way. I had trucks passing me, cars with trailers everything, it was embarrassing. If anything going 70 on the motorway is more dangerous then anything.

Cop drives past me with a smug look on his face. after that a FZR pulled next to me and single that we should have a play. i shook my head and he sped off. And in this time a BMW cage pulled out in front of the cop but the cop didn't care and proceeded to pull the biker over instead.

So that's my story.. Now I know I was breaking the law so I don't need this to turn into one of those threads lol. Just funny 112kph in a 100kph = $600 fine. lol

They are some real fucking bastards aren't they?

I say get the fuckers off our roads and stop busting us harmless motorists out purely to enjoy our ride, stop nit picking/revenue gathering from our just expired wof/rego and get the fuckers into south auckland and stop the gangs.

    Sorry to hear that mate.

Yea, I'm gutted as. I mean its not like I was doing 160 down there, which can be pretty easy :P. 112 on the motorway cruising with traffic.. Its abit unfair but at least he got some of his quota lol

I glad you had the correct "yessir, nosir, three bags fullsir" attitude as arguing gets you no where.Sometimes it's hard with the bile rising in the back of your throat though.

Where do the 50 demerits come from? As far as I am aware (I'm open to correction here, I can't remember), expired rego is not a demerit offence. And driving outside licence conditions is a flat rate 25. The speed you were outsid ethe 70 by is irrelevant, the 70kph is not a speed limit it is a licence condition. 42kph speeding is a 50 dermit point one, but it is not relevant here. He could have done you for breach of licenc conditions, expired rego, and 12kph speeding. But even then it would only be 25 demerits, because only the most serious offence on a singlke occasion counts for demerits.

If they try to dink you for 50 , object. Loudly.

What the hell, so they are expecting all L plate riders to ride slower than the traffic or ride at 70kph. Expect a hell of a lot more 'accidents' and road rage (all perfectly avoidable if they pulled finger and actually thought about their stupid law).
I thought keeping up with the traffic was safer than riding slow, especially on a bike when cars like sniffing your arse?

    Stupid stupid stupid.

Bugger...... next time just take off the "L" plate when you want to hit the open road. Your riding with the flow of traffic IS the safest way to ride.

That is the best advice,TAKE OFF THE "L" Plate. If you get pulled over they wil most likely not even realise.... Go on into the garage and ditch it NOW..

Yep, definately take the L plate off. I reckon the cops give you more grief when you are a learner, best not to point it out to them. I was ticketed/pulled over 5 times while on my learners. Only once since on my full (5 years) you may chalk that up to experience?

PS. Wont be your last ticket : )
