Hmmm it wasn't a blue Blackbird was it? I met the gentleman at Colin's place and he was wearing blue cordura and the KB patch prominently on the front! In fact he remembered me from the Westpac Ride from two years I attended.
Small world we live in and Souf'Aucklund is smaller again!
Glad to hear your wee nipper is still finding something to like about them mayhemsickles we love so dearly.

That was probably me, the young fella was in his child seat in the right rear and did a pretty good job of swivelling around to have a look. Coming up to the lights at Opaheke Road if I remember right. Made me smile on my way home from work. Nice touch to a nice day.
Good to catch up with you again, even briefly Justin. I did not realise that the Kiwibiker patch stood out so well.
Ah, the innocents....
Kids realise we are human on our machines..... Shame the majority of road users think we are just targets.
I always give kids a wave too.... Hopefully they continue to look out for bikes through into their adulthood....
One of the most memorable moments I have had on a bike was with a young man, I guess about 7 years old.
Little angel faced fella was looking out the back window of the car.. I was expecting a wave from him after he continuously stared at me for the few hundred metres I had been following them. Well, when the little bugger pulled a funny face at me!
I thought jeez checky bugger, I'll get you.. so I put my thumb against where my nose would be on the helmet and wiggled my fingers like I was poking my tongue out!
Little fella laughed, told Mum who was driving to look! by the time she looked I was back to serious biker!
She carried on driving, and the kid did the same back to me! Thumb on nose, tongue out, wiggly fingers!
So thinking hard how to out smart this 7 year old I put one hand on the side of my helmet and waved the hands!
Kid cracked up again, got mum to look and I was back to serious biker!
This time the kid did two hands, one on each ear, tongue out hands waving!
Should have seen his face when I did it back! hand on either side of my helmet, thumb on nose. Flip face visor up, tongue out!
Look of astonishment and intrigue, along with lavishings of laughter. (pretty sure mum saw me that time.)
Anyway kid was dumbfounded as I passed them and carried on my way. Gave mum a wave as I passed...
Magical moment! Hopefully a future, kid friendly biker!
