ahh a 'slow motion' incident..and a squishie moment as well. A lesson learnt no-doubt. I myself have had a couple of 'brown strides' moments. You learn very quickly to trust no-one and behave on the road

In my opinion, as a biker and a car driver, you would have been doing something wrong. A car coming in the opposite direction should never have to alter their course at all because of someone overtaking. If they were on their side of the white line, you should have been in far enough to the left to be safely out of their way.
If you can't get far enough to the left and 'assume' that the car driver will move for you, then he was probably right to toot at you.
As we tragically saw yesterday, it's just not worth the risk...
I had a similar sort of incident where car drivers were getting shitty at me for passing in bumper to bumper holiday traffic. Double yellows but I was wholy within my lane with most drivers pulling left to let me past. I still got at least 1 beep to every 30-40 cars passed though
Thank you for your opinion........
The van did not have to alter his course, I had moved to my left before it reached me. It was then that he felt it necessary to move towards me and make an issue out of it...perhaps he thought I was in the wrong, or maybe his missus had just told him moments prior that he is a slack root, dont know...I am not bothered by it at all...but the thread title says it all really.
Assumption! you read about a situation, get a mental picture in your and comment on it, whether your comment is right or wrong, you beleive it and nothing will change that.
Get a gun and shoot the fuck.

This thread is a perfect example of how the written (or in this case, typed) word gets missread....well done you.
And you know this of me how??......
If I were in the wrong do you really think that I would post about it?
Its not a case of right or wrong, its a matter of fact.
Assumption is the art of knowing all things when there is no evidence to the contrary.

As someone else once said: "Anytime you have to rely on another road user to see you, and for them to give a f*ck, in order for you to survive, you're already dead."
There's a good line in the Pomgolia Road Code that says something to the effect that you should never get yourself in a position where another road user has to alter course or speed in order to avoid an accident.
These work for me...
