Some people have a respectful relationship with their parents that extends into mentoring and friendship.
I have more respect for people who manage to transition from a parent/child relationship into a meaningful adult one than I do for people with a pat putdown. You won't give a crap because the universe revolves around you, and Coyote's parental relationship syntagm doesn't fit with your "skidmark as ruler of the known and unknown universes" paradigm, does it?
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
I really did not expect 'he who shall not be named' was the Bronz dude. Go figure. I'd like to hear his opinion on the matter.
He's a smart dude. If he agrees then my opinion must have some merit. Fair enough?
I must meet you in person. I bet you're actually very shy and polite.
Compulsory basic training in the UK dramatically reduced motorcycle accidents when it was introduced....and it wasn't because it reduced the numbers of roders either. Hard to believe an organisation representing motorcyclists is against compulsory driver training...especially with the standard of fuckin idiots out there on 4 wheels.

Again, I challenge you to provide me proof, not heresay or anecdotal evidence, that driver training helps reduce accidents and/or mortality.
The govt aren't going to listen to what you think may have happened in the UK. A link to the published study would be a start.
Having just had the opportunity today to read the last two BRONZ articles in KiwiRider I have to say that the constant references to "cagers" and "sheeple" smacks of total condescension - much the same way that letters to 'the powers that be' have been sent from Wire Rope Barrier opponents.
Until such times as we can talk to people that make the decisions that affect our lifestyle in a manner that is respectful and mature we'll continue to be seen as unworthy of serious consideration.
It's a free world, you spoke your opinion, the writer you criticise will reflect on what you have said and take it into account.
At least you read the article and thought about what it meant to you and discussed it with your dad.
I wonder if you would have posted as you did, if you actually knew who the author was, or would you have simply joined the sheeple.Cheers, John.
PS: Apparrantly with Skidmark, "what you see/read is what you get"! I can live with that too.![]()
If I had known who it was, I would've spoke my opinion in a more playful and joking manner, and to him personally rather than making a thread about it.
In say that, now I know him, I haven't spoken to him directly yet. Basically cause I'm lazy and have other priorities. I don't spend much time on KB nowadays.
Just took the opportunity to read the BRONZ column in the Jan KR myself this morning and must say, in typical katman fashion you are over reacting.
Cagers and sheeple. How many of these people that he refers to read KR?
Now sure he missed a few opportunities, like pointing out that busses have a higher weight per passenger (even fully loaded) than a car and thus create even more pollution per person.
He also missed the point that busses create congestion where none exists. For those of you who don't live in Auckland - busses don't stop in bus stops during peak times, they stop in the lane adjacent to the bus stop to allow passengers on. Each stop creates a compression wave in the traffic and ensures that the next 100 or more motorists have to slow or stop at about that point. Often 2 busses will play leap frog stopping at alternate stops. This means the back bus is always pulling out into the right lane to go passed the stopped one in front. Again, this causes a compression wave, but crippling traffic flow in both lanes.
But despite missing a few points, it wasn't a bad read and sent a message - even though it was preaching to the converted.
It was a far better column than some old guy painfully (for the reader) trying to fill a page with waffle just to say "you need to be able to trust your tyres". This column will do far more damage to our image if read by the sheeple or cagers as it will confirm the image that you try so hard to defend - that we are all brain dead morons.
