    Suzuki 150cc two smoker...

Ten months ago when I got my bike, (in a moment of pre-senile dementia), my neighbour looked at it enviously and said wistfully..."I want another bike but XZY (wife) won't let me...."
Last week as I exited my drive at 5.30am (insomnia you see - another part of senility...) I espied a little motorbike emerging from his driveway...
Yesterday he was out mowing the frontage so I asked him about it and he showed me his new toy - a Suzuki 150cc 2-smoker....1999 model. (I bet his wife blames ME for him getting it....)
I know almost nothing about 2 strokes from that time. Anyone here who can enlighten me on the model please? It is unlikely I will get to ask him since our paths rarely cross and I wanna know....Thanks...

RG150. Damn nice little bikes. Insane of course, like all two smokers. he'll probably crash and die, but y'never know. Any rate , he'll have a shit load of fun doing it.

Just remember to tell him, two strokes only have two throttle settings. Idle and WOT. Anything else is just masturbating. And the only reason not to have the tacho on the redline is because you just changed gear.

SV650 won't keep up with an RG150. If the smoker's ridden well. If not, you can catch up while they're hauling him out of the ditch

You're a bloody little ray of sunshine, y'know that....?

It will be a while before I go riding with him - don't want to be there when he does go into the ditch......

Ixion's comment is probably made in full awareness of the fact that I will be piloting the SV.......in which case he is probably right.....

rg's are not fast like anything else 250cc and under, they are however absolute feather-weights and as such are a blast to ride, with some sticky tires they are nearly as much fun as you can have while your girlfriend still has pants on..

Oh yeah? The watercooled RG (V is aircooled and not as quick) has a top speed in the vicinity of 180kph. There's not too many 250s that'll do that. And I know yours won't.
A well-ridden RG will give most bikes under 400/500 a serious run for their money.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

thats a little optimistic i reckon man, 150 is closer, i mean a little more in favorable conditions i guess.. the dudes i know that have and do own them reckon the speedo's are hellishly inaccurate, the few times iv taken them for a hoon iv worked my ass off and still nowhere near its limit.. cool bikes, lol i got my spada up to 165-170 (once), it sounds like a sack of hammers now..

Get the tensioners and chains looked at. This will save the bike and allow you to enjoy it for another 100,000kms.

My wife's RG was a scarey little bastard and absolute fun. They can be tuned beyond 40hp rear wheel (I have heard some claims of 45+) but they get a bit peaky. The reason they are considered so quick is that you simply don't need to slow down much to chuck one round a corner.

Remember that straight line speed is for pencil dicks - Real men go for handling over horsepower every time.

I used to have a RG150. It went *HARD*. I had it over 180KM/h indicated. But then again I didn't really have a point of reference since it was my first bike, so when I hop on one now I might feel that it ain't nothing special.

yeah man the cam chain is more like cam rope now, this and tensioners are next on my fix-it list (and fork seals), spada has done about 120,000 so far, the last 50,000 have been tough..

    car or bike ? debatable

Did you not notice "if the RGs well ridden". RG, a good rider and a good twisty road and an SV650 would seriously be hard pressed to keep ahead. Go ask the guys who got taken by TwoSmoker when he rode them (where is he anyway?).Some thous , too.

They are seriously fast bikes on the right road with the right rider. Insane of course, and if you ride one hard you'll die . But with a shit eating grin on your face .
