Flatmate pissing off the neighbours with his bike?

Hey guys... have tried talknig to my flatmate about this he doesn't seem to care.

He has just got himself a bike (cb125)

And seems to find it neccessary to be going in and out at all hours.

he just went out at 1 am....blatting off full noise through the gears down the road (loud as hell (stock pipes but a bike at 1am is loud regardless)but not speeding being a 125)

came home 130 am....talked some shit then went out again, if he quietly started it then nursed it out of the block i think we would not have an issue. but he has just left again 1.40am...

Fires the bike up...5 blips of the throttle to 6,000 rpm or so...

Then about 5,000 rpm up the drive.

He wont listen to me in regards to lets not piss off the neighbours.

I live in mt wellington (not the friendliest of neighbourhoods)

What i am concerned about is people round here do not complain about noise, they come over with a few mates and box some heads.

Or worse for me thinking it's my bike thats been making all the noise and smash it up or steal it etc.

    Am i just being paranoid?

I was just raised right to respect others etc.

And going in and out every 30 mins at 1am can't be making them happy...

any thoughts on how to make the flatmate realise this before sparks fly from the neighbours?

Like you said stealing the bike would be a solution. Or you could call noise control on your own, let the cops deciplen him.

May be a good idea to mention your flatmates are relatively 'new' too NZ and may not be 100% familiar with the culture.

Heres an angle - Take it up to the cart track this weekend (notify me if it's saturday or sunday) while he's away from it at work or something, and give it to me. I need a working bike - You need to stay on your neighbours good sides... WIN-WIN man!

Tell him to get his act together and pull his head in and stop being so bloody inconciderate or he can start packing his bags and move out taking his 125 with him. Or stick a bloody potatoe down his exhaust pipe. I cant believe how ignorant some people are and if the boot was on the other foot and it was his neighbours doing what he is I bet he wouldn't like it 1 bit.

Simple talk to him again.... If he dosnt want to know his bad. Say sorry to your neighbours and explain that you have a new flatmate living there and its his bike not yours. tell them that you have tried to talk to him but no joy. Then if they take revenge you can sit back enjoy then say I told you so.
At the end of the day you can only do so much.
If you are behind meDont ask as I am lost too.

when the flattie gets home, does he spend most of the day sleeping? if so, go around the neighbours and borrow as many lawn mowers as you can. park them all outside his bedroom window. get some mates around and start the whole freakin lot in one go. give him something to think about.

So, do you have to work hard at spouting shit or does it just come naturally?
