    Hello & bike hire?

    Hi Everyone,
Just booked flight from UK to NZ in Sept/Oct 09. Huge thing for me as I haven't toured out of UK before.
I am flying into Auckland and wonder if anyone can recommend a good place to hire a bike? Loads seem available when searching Google but would prefer a few recommendations. Only looking for something like a Bandit.
Also, any tips/must do routes etc on North Island.
REALLY looking forward to it. My friends fly out on monday to start their new life in NZ.

I would recommend the road to Raglan from Auckland and the Coromandel Loop. I would also say be ware of the gravel when riding here. Many of the roads have lose gravel at the best of times so take care. I am sure that plenty of peeps on here will be able to give you more suggestions. There are so many amazing places to ride and if you have the time you should get to the South Island!!
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
    Wish you were here. QWQ

    Job done.

Thanks for info. Bike hire now sorted. Trip is now two weeks on South Island and one week North.
Can't wait to get riding on roads with very little traffic & stunning scenery.
Had to help on a job up north in UK last week and with the good weather decided to go on bike. It took 4.5 hours (usually 2.5-3) with nearly 1.5 hour of filtering stand still traffic jams (caravans )

So have you got an itinerary sorted? Would you care to share it with us?
