I think the worst bit of advice I've seen on here was hire skidmark, how bad could it be?
Zen wisdom: No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously. - obviously had KB in mind when he came up with that gem

I once advised a female rider to get a Sportster Hugger...and there was a lot of advice to get an SV.I hope that wasn't you,and you ignored me.I was probably ignored anyway...which didn't raise my opinions of the value of advice from here.

    Well lets see-

    everything really lol

What I should have been told, which I am now saying is:

Youll find *newbies listen up* common sense should make riders know what is right or wrong. If you dont feel comfortable riding in groups or feel like you are pushing the boundaries slow down. If you dont feel the need to shift your weight then dont. If you dont feel the need to get your peg/knee down on a pubic road because it is stupid dont.

Listen to that little voice in your head which warns you when you are doing something stupid. Oh and if you really want help, go to a riding course and get some one on one help. Learn to ride safely and confidently by yourself and you should be fine.

Note: If you feel uneasy on your bike it usually means that you brain has spotted something which it doesnt like so slowing down might help.

Other than that, take it easy there is no rush.

That is what I should have heard.
