Fine for riding bigger than 250?

    as the title says.

What would the damage be for riding a bike bigger than a 250 on a learners ??

I searched through over 15 pages in this section and couldn't really find it so decided to post a new thread.

Just done my basic handling skills course today, get learners shortly, but really haven't made a decision on if I should be legal and buy a 250 or be naughty and get a 600 and risk it.

I drive full time for a job and can't afford to lose my licence for any period of time.

So if anyone knows the fines involved if ya get snapped, then I'd be keen to know.

    Cheers

I reckon that you're smart enough to go all out and buy a Gixxer Thou for your first bike.

I think its $400 for breach of license conditions, and $800 for being caught with a pilion.

Give me $400 now, and if you get caught, I'll pay it for you.

If ya get snapped on bigger than a 2fiddy then its just a breach of licence fine and points. From you thinking about it right from the start you seem cool enough to ride something bigger than you should.
Going through breath testing checkpoints more often than not they will also want to have a quick look to make sure your color licence matches the capacity of you bike.

Its not just the fine and demerits, you will most likely be un-insured, which could cost you a lot more !

IMHO you should try and get an exemption, or stick with a 250 until you get the correct class of licence.

Reckon you might be getting the picture? I'd not recomend going bigger straight away, but hey who are, am I/we to know about these things, seems to me that you've already decided to break the law it's only a question of to what degree so the finances may bear up under the strain.
Remember if you do this, no insurance company is going to pay out on a learners for a bigger bike, to me that means no one gets paid out if you've caused the accident.I've ssen the results of that scenario first hand of late, it ain't pretty.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
