    Granddad's bike

Anyone have an idea of what kind of bike my grand dad used to ride. Didn't realise he rode until a couple of days ago. Thanks

Looks like an early 50s British single.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Actually, on second thoughts, it's older than 50s and not British. Could be French...a Puch?

    Granddad's bike

It has an early BSA B50 (350cc) kinda look to it. Rigid frame early '40's.

It's the pleasing constant curve of the header pipe. Seen that in French bikes...

Girders and rigid rear, older than 50s. Looks to be foot change (unless there's a hand change hidden on the left side), so 1930s (or a 1940 summit post war )

Timing cover looks an unusual shape. Exhaust pipe angle looks sidevalvish, but the cylinder head looks too tall for a SV. Watch this space. Someone will get it, we never fail

Little oil tank in front of the crankcase, and the case has a distinct Royal Enfield look to it, as does that iron head.

    I would guess a mid-30s Enfield 250.

It's a Royal Enfield WD/CO. circa 1938-1946. War Department model, though lots were sold as army surplus for years after the war

heres another one, silencers been a bit perverted

Yep. The kick starter position, and the little round button of the neutral selector are distinctive Renfield, as is the oil chamber at the front (they were actually dry sump like most bikes of the period, but instead of a frame mounted oil tank, they had an oil chamber built into the crankcase).

    Renfield for sure.
