But bikes can be cheap fun!!

I worked out when I bought mine, that commuting on it would make it pay for itself after 3 years.
i.e. the cost of parking+petrol with a car, or the cost of riding the bus vs the cost of the bikes petrol and parking for free.

Obviously I was a bit off the mark and the servicing and extra registration costs detract from this somewhat....but there will still be a point where the bike really was a money saving investment.

Of course I'll probably go and get a bigger bike at that point

Don't like to add it up .....but is well over a $1000
Oh and all labour done myself (valve adjustment etc)

    Harley 7000 km
    Oil and filters
    $650 for 2 tyres
    $85 brakepads
    $....? for some "bling"

oh and most of these KMs were just for fun....didn't serve any purpose other then riding.....

Didn't even mention boots, helmet gloves jacket(s) and pants....
    another $1500.....

I am not complaining, just stating a fact....

The cheapest way for me to get to work is by train. $70 for a monthly pass - all you can eat.

A bike is more expensive to commute for me. But only 25 mins door to door (including time to fluff around with gear). Whereas the train would take 50 mins including walking. So I gain 50 mins per day (which I use to stare at my bike )

No not arrogant about IT. I think theres a lot of fear surrounding Computers that doesn't need to be there. I spread the word of IT being your friend and not as hard as it looks.

    Here ! None of that

My BOFH reputation depend sin no small part on the lusers being made aware that IT is not their friend, that it is much harder than it looks, and that computers are an incarnate evil that only a occult master can deal with. The latter bit is certainly true.
