Anyone annoy the police near Wellsford?

Driving South through Wellsford early this afternoon, noticed a mufti police car parked on the side of the road in Wellsford itself. Fair enough, I'm all for people driving sedately in urban areas.

Between Wellsford and Warkworth (in the 80km/hr bit), I count three more mufti vehicles heading north, and two marked traffic cop cars, one parked, the other heading north. That makes a grand total of 6 in about 12km. Wow. Is this usual for the area, has someone been causing grief,or merely an unrelated targeting of a thoroughfare?

I went for a ride to Mangawai this afternoon, someone musta tipped them off but I came back through SH16, ha ha.
Although on the way up on SH1 I followed a mufti from Puhoi to Wellsford

between wellsford and puhoi 7 cops maybe the toll tunnel is not paying its way yet
