I went on quite a few of the kiwibiker rides from Avalon Park (mostly Wednesday. Thursday I have work at night) and didn't bump into many female riders. Also I clock up the kms big time going all sorts of places other than just Rimutakas. Over Paekak, Palmerston, Waipukurau, Taupo, Napier to name a few. Track days I haven't seen many female riders as well. I remember seeing rachprice at the motomart trackday in February, and one or two others.
When I headed over to paraparam from Upper Hutt today I was looking out very closely at the riders! I saw heeeaps of guys (mostly Harley/cruiser bikes actually... one gixxer thou!!) and two women. One of those women was pillion and the other was riding a scorpio 225 looking thing - her lean angle round one of the bends on Grays road looked wicked!! Scraping peg action!!
I have been on rides where heaps of females attend, not all together, god forbid thatbut, a few on each ride though. They are always a pleasure to be around and ride with.
Where's Wellington by the way??![]()
Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes!
I can't speak for any other of the chicks who ride out there but when I go out for a ride that is what I'm doing, riding, not stopping for a chat and a coffee, I can do that any time.
Maybe my smartarse husband's right, maybe many of us are busy working or cleaning the house to be out all day riding and pissing about like the blokes seem to manage to do.
And to be honest I don't really think I look like a chick when I'm on my bike, I wear a mean helmet, black leather pants, a silver leather jacket (possibly the only gear I wear that isn't strictly "manly") and ride a black 900, the only thing that gives me away (I think) is that occasionally my hair pops out of my jacket and flys out behind me, but otherwise I'm sure I'd look like any other motorcyclist. And if I don't stop and take my helmet off, how would you know?
