I wouldn't go getting your hopes up that anything will change on that roundabout, it's been like that for *many* years. I used to live in Pakuranga and had to go thru it every day like you. I think it's more the ningkompoop drivers than actual bad road design though!

If you guys think Kiwis don't know how to use roundabouts then go and visit South africa, people there treat the bloody things like stop streets.

Very true, and before I make a cock-up of meanings, I was pulling the piss out of GSXR with his spelling of problems (Problums)

I was no golden angel when I learnt about round abouts and I didnt mean to say anyone else was worse than others, I was just having fun. I expect a swift kick in the arse

I've been going through that roundabout before I was born, and that's over 50 yrs ago...I learnt to ride and drive with that as part of the scenery.I've actualy seen very few prangs on it considering the use it gets - we have far more at our stupid little Carr Rd one....the smaller ones are worse cause the trucks can't get around and take out cars.

We have a 2 lane round about in Blenheim with railway tracks through that. At least an accident a day on it. Great fun to park up and watch when the ferry traffic passes through

stu , you forgot to mention the pedestrian crossing just after one of the entry's/exit

Yeah, I actually think the Royal Oak roundabout is worse than Panmure, because of the pedestrian crossing just as you come out of it (the Royal Oak one) .

Hey, at least we HAVE roundabouts. I've only seen one roundabout in the entireity of North America (a back road on the north shore of oahu in Hawaii) and I can tell you its frustrating having all these little intersections with giveways and traffic lights instead of a nice healthy roundabout.

that said, that Panmure one is a bit too exciting when you have two lane roads going on and off and three lanes around it (that really doesn't add up!)

Pulled up to the Pamure RA last week, just in time to watch a woman go from the inside lane right across the front of a truck that was pulling onto the RA.
After the truckie stopped he caught my eye,I gave him a shrug an a big grin.
He just shook his head, smiled an carried on his way.
    Been there before me thinks

Hey, the Panamanure roundabout was great, back when we drove Model A's and Ford Pop's..! Could go round and round for hours.........Could put up a great display when the tyres peeled off and you were goin around on the rims, sparks a-showering!

Manu, the Panmure bike cop in the 70s reckoned we should be able to do the island at 50mph,that's what speed he took it at - what do the bike cops these days take it at? Any improvement on a Saint?
