Okay, I'm a bit autistic, but I've heard of a few people who document everything obsessively, and it helped them out a lot in the long run. For example, taking note of how many kays you get out of a tank is handy if you can plot it over time: if you notice it decreasing it's often an early warning indicator of something else that could be way more of a problem if you don't catch it early.

I may not make it this friday.

Due to my lack of working gear shifting mechanism I've been having to slip the clutch for about 10 meters in 3rd...except after work tonight I noticed some smoke drifting with me.

I killed the engine, then when I tried the electric starter again it wasn't turning over. When I tried kicking it with the clutch in the rear wheel still turned...I don't think thats right. I'll get the gear shifter together tomorrow and see what happens.

I think I've done something to the clutch although the lever still feels like its got plenty of spring tension on it. oil probably was rather cold, and low, which probably not good.

Shouldnt be too much. When you 'over-use' your clutch it is usual for it to continue slipping. In your case it wont disengage. Bent plates - perhaps but would be odd.
I'd check the adjustment of the lever, wind it out a bit to reduce the free play and also check the other end, if you can see it. I dont know about your bike, but sometimes you can see the actuating lever at the engine end.
When you pull the clutch is all the movement being transfered or is the cable loosing it somehow... as in stretching.

the lever is moving perfectly fine and the clutch feels like its being disengaged. I would expect if the plates wouldn't disengage it would be stuck?

but in your case...im not sure what you could do!

No not at all, good post. We are all wasting our time till we get some better feedback!! Just kidding. We just need proof that you have tested properly before you start pulling it down!!

I'm just posting here for no reason except to try reach 2500 posts, and I'm not sure how close I am... If it isn't raining on Friday night, it should be a good night
