Torrent for MotoGP Round 3 Turkey 2007

Watching it now on the telly. Stick Sky Sports up yer arse R. Murdoch. My latest bling thing also rips telly to mpeg on the fly (without a PC) so when progs like Paeroa BOTS are shown I'll be uploading them.

Sorry to be dumb, but can someone explain how torrents work???

I download the thing, but nothing happens.. and the player wont play it

PRACTISE
Go to http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ and download it. You may need to pigeonhole your router and setup your firewall. If you have uPNP enabled it'll make life easier though. Once installed it'll automagically handle torrent files. A good place to find torrents is www.piratebay.org

THEORY
Basically instead of downloading the file from a server (thus causing the server to go into meltdown) it implements peer to peer filesharing. The file(s) get downloaded from multiple clients and reassembled on your PC.
eg.

A uploads a file and publish it as a torrent.
B starts downloading the file
C starts downloading the file from both A nd B
D starts downloading the file from A, B & C.
A disconnects. As long as either B, C or D have a copy of the file things can continue (*1).
E starts downloading from B, C & D.

Etc. That way downloads are much faster.

*1) A can be a $hithead and disconnect when B has spent 2 days downloading 99% of the file. Everyone else gets to 99% too (from B) and then they're fucked.
