Was a good ride thankyou Ruralman. Lunch as well!
Definitly would be a good ride in the dry.
Was just a bit damp under the leather but plenty of wool and merino layers kept me warm. Once my heated grips are fitted I'll be sorted!
Took the bike into M& V today to get a warrant and new tire on the back and the shocks are a bit pitted and causing the seals to leak so they sorting that out + giving it a good service + sorting out a slight dent in front rim so I'll be bikeless for about a week :'(
It WAS a bloody road - only people on poufdah bikes would turn down an adventure like that
FORCED????? - I think I recall at least 3 times I offered the group an alternative route back that would have avoided the gravel (actually the strip we rode on had F'all gravel). Just think how your skills ,character and knowledge of your machines limitations have improved from this experience - even better, you've developed "character" without having to ride a Ducati!!!!
So when do you think the rim got the bang??
I had a few questions about the Oringi rainsuit I was wearing the other day. The link below should take you to the garment on their website. The stuff they make these out of is stretchy, waterproof, breathes reasonably well and strongly resists punctures and will not tear unless under extreme pressure. I have quite a bit of Oringi gear for use on the farm and I really rate it as comfortable to wear and it performs really well.
Its not cheap and it won't roll up as small as the nylon rainsuits you can buy in bike shops - it will roll up about the same size as a pair of jeans.
Mine is a size bigger than I would normally buy so that I can get it over my bike gear. Its easy enough to get on over boots and things, has domes on the legs and velcro straps on the wrists. I have never noticed it flapping while riding.
While my Drider jacket and RJay pants are meant to be waterproof they do soak up a lot of water in the outside layers which is a dripping pain when you arrive somewhere - this stops all those hassles and when you arrive you give it a shake and it doesn't drip and will be dry in a few minutes. It also makes a big difference when it is a bit cold as well as wet - because you don't get cold or wet.
Oringi sometimes has a sale - thats when I got mine - its worth asking if they have any on special if you want one.

Can't beat a Warehouse set of leggings and jacket... cheap as chips and they work.
Don't tak up eff-all room either.
