I was, but left Uni now. Going to be working at NZ Steel soon, working in their Operations and Planning Division. Used to be teaching (as a TA) for the maths and physics departments.

Oh kool. Haha, I was wondering what job options I would have once I've finished my degree. At the moment I'm still in stage one, doing Physics 150, Maths 108, Phil 101 & compsci 111 (those last two are for the points). I'll be doing stage two next semester and was wanting to do the quantum physics paper and I'm also going to have to take alot more maths papers which is a bit of a piss off, but if I'm wanting to take physics furthers I'll need it.

gee, good thing you said those last two are "just for the points"! Never ever taken compsci111, not even considered it. Compsci101 was piss easy. As for Phil101.... well, I shamefully do admit to taking it myself!
But only because I was bored at the time, so thought it "fun" to enroll in a couple of papers during summer school. Went to the first lecture of Phil101, that was also my last lecture ever of it.... though this did cause me to miss the final for Phil101! LOL. Oh well, I still passed even though I didn't turn up to the final....
It is beyond piss easy, in fact so far beyond it can't even be compared to piss easy!
As for Maths108..... and in the second semester! And a physics student taking it as well! Arrgghhh.... "back in my day" that would have been unheard off...

Yes, you do need more maths. By "taking physics further" you mean majoring in it? If so, then you might need to almost major in maths while your about it.... Certainly if you want to get into the quantum physics papers. In fact, in that case you really can not have too much maths!
Have you thought about taking Maths208 during summer school? You might find it to be a very good idea, to help yourself catch up. I think it is terrible that students "nowadays" can finish first year only having done one maths paper (even worse if it is 108!). Is totally shocking if they are meant to be maths and/or physics students too!
My "little" brother (unfortunately... he is "a few" millimeters taller than I am) is taking Physics 150. Tallish guy (6' 5"), has a camo backpack.

So far I've done virtually no work for 108, just trying to go by from what I learned in maths102 (which I never went to lectures for and got by from what I learned in school... still got a B+ though). I know what you mean, I did most of stage one on what I already knew. Never really studied, at any point while at Uni. But I'm an abnormality, not really sure how I got my degree without doing anything. And I wouldn't at all advise doing that. I really wish myself I could have gone back in time and worked harder, then I could have carried on with this to a much higher level. And done some stuff I'd have really liked. Physics certainly is a lot of work (watch out for those lab reports in second and third year! Though I believe it has become a lot less work than it used to be), possibly a slight error in hindsight doing heaps and heaps of physics. But was lots of fun. Oh well, it all turns out good in the end. I'm going to be starting an amazingly great job in another week, so life is great.Cheers for the advice mate. It's so much fucking work though! Hey guys 'n gals.
The ride down to coro was AWESOME!!! Cheers to Stephen for organising it and to Dimi, Ehab and Kim for coming along! That CBR900 is a bloody nice machine and you've kept her in mint condition Kim! The weather also turned out mint (almost like it was waiting for us to get on our bikes before it cleared up) and its a pity the mountains were drenched and we couldn't complete the loop. My ass is definately the sorest part of my body right now!
For those of you who missed out for whatever reasons we are organising a shorter ride for the coming weekend so if you are keen give me a buzz and I'll try and get details out to you asap! It'll be mean if we had some big numbers for next weeks ride and hopefully the weather is great and we'll have another day like today!
